The Betway Premiership will soon be heading into a mid season break but some important games take place on Wednesday when our focus is on Siwelele v Sundowns and Chippa United v Kaizer Chiefs

Siwelele v Sundowns

Siwelele have 15 points from 14 games and are down in 12th position on the log. They have scored just 7 league goals this season (conceding 12) and that makes them the joint lowest scorers in the Betway Premiership. OF their 15 points 11 have been earned in home games, 3 wins, 2 draws and 2 defeats and they have kept clean sheets in their last 3 home fixtures, 1-0 wins over Gallnats and Sekhukhune and a 0-0 draw with Chippa.

Sundowns will kick off in second spot, 3 points behind Orlando Pirates with both games having played 12 matches. The Bucs are not in midweek action and as the goal difference of both of the top two sides is +13, any sort of win here would send Sundowns back to the top of the log. Downs haven’t played a designated away game in the league since losing 1-0 at Arrows at the end of September. That is their only away defeat but they have been held to a draw 3 times on their travels whilst winning just the 2.

The Verdict:

Games like this become a bit of a free hit for sides such as Siwelele but they face a tough task with Downs looking to reclaim top spot. In a bid to find a bet at more enticing odds, I will go with Downs to win a game of 3 goals or more.

Bet: Sundowns to win and over 2.5 total match goals at 2.15/1 with Betway

Chippa v Kaizer Chiefs

Chippa have drawn 2 of their last 3 but they remain rock bottom in the standings just 8 points, 3 adrift of Magesi and 4 behind Stellenbosch. Their only win came at home to Orbit Collage in mid September, their stand out result at home was a draw with Sundowns on the opening weekend whilst Galaxy and Pirates won comfortably here and Stellenbosch played out a 0-0 draw.

Fourth placed Chiefs have 22 points, 6 off the pace being set by Pirates but they have played one game fewer and at the time of writing they were also slated to visit TS Galaxy at the weekend before we head into AFCON. Chiefs are unbeaten in their last 5 league games, only 1 of which was an away fixture which saw them won 1-0 at Durban City. They thrashed Orbit College 54-1 in their most recent league outing and they have won all 3 of their road trips in the Betway Premiership this season.

The Verdict:

Chippa have tightened up a bit but face a stern test against Chiefs. Chippa haven’t scored in their last 4 league games and I’ll go with visitors to win with a clean sheet.

Bet: Which teams to score? Only Chiefs at 1.47/1 with Betway
