The five remaining English Premier League matches this weekend take place on Sunday and we have a play for each game including Arsenal v Crystal Palace and Aston Villa v Manchester City
Prices quoted are correct at the time of publication but subject to change.
Bournemouth v Notts Forest
Since losing their opening game to Liverpool at Anfield Bournemouth are unbeaten with 4 wins and 3 draws, a run which saw them finish the previous round in fourth position with 15 points, 4 off the pace being set by Arsenal. They have taken 10 points from 4 home games, wins over Wolves, Brighton and most recently Fulham plus a draw with Newcastle and last week a chaotic finish in their trip to Palace eventually finished 3-3.
Forest’s 3-0 home defeat to Chelsea last weekend saw Big Ange depart and Sean Dyche arrive and the new boss got off to a flyer with a 2-0 win over Porto in the Europa League on Thursday. Their only league win this season came at home to Brentford on the opening weekend, they have drawn 1-1 at both Burnley and Palace in addition to losing at Newcastle and Arsenal. Forest will kick off in the bottom 3 which just 5 points from 8 matches.
Forest have scored just once in their last 6 league games, they could well be a different proposition under new management but this is a tough task, made all the more difficult by a quick turnaround having played on Thursday. I think it could be close and we have seen a frantic finish to more than one Bournemouth game this season so 2 or more second half goals is my play.
Bet: 2nd half totals over 1.5 at 11/10 with Betway
Arsenal v Crystal Palace
Arsenal put Atletico Marid away 4-0 in a UCL home fixture in midweek and they have won 8 and drawn 1 of their last 9 across all competitions, keeping 7 clean sheets in the process. The Gunners also top the EPL standings 3 points clear of Manchester City and 4 in front of Liverpool. A 1-0 defeat at Anfield is their only loss this season and Man City’s 1-1 here is the only other game they have failed to win.
Palace’s 19 match club record unbeaten run across all competitions came to an end when they conceded 2 late goals in a 2-1 defeat at Everton recently and since then they have played out a 3-3 draw at home to Bournemouth and on Thursday they lost 1-0 at home to Larnaca in the Conference League. Their 2-1 home win over Liverpool is their most notable result so far and they have also won on the road at Villa and West Ham in addition to drawing at Chelsea.
I respect Palace, especially when they travel but Arsenal are in top form and I’m with the home side to score 23 in the multi goals market.
Bet: Arsenal multi goals, 2-3 at even money with Pokerbet
Aston Villa v Manchester City
Villa were on the wrong end of a shock result in the Europa League on Thursday when they lost 2-1 away to Go Ahead Eagles. Villa were 2-1 winners at Spurs in the EPL last weekend, their third straight win in the league and they are now in mid table with 12 points. Their 2 most recent home games saw them get the better of Burnley and Fulham.
City were 2-0 winners away to Villarrel in the UCL in midweek and the7 have won 7 and drawn 2 of their last 9 in all competitions. In the EPL they have taken 13 points from the last 15 available, a run which has taken them into second position in the EPL standings, three points behind Arsenal.
Villa’s league form has come on leaps and bounds but the same can be said for City. I’m with the visitors to win a game of 3 goals or more in total.
Bet: Winner and total goals, Man City and over 2.5 at 16/10 with Sportingbet
Wolves v Burnley
After a 2-0 defeat at Sunderland last weekend Wolves remain bottom of the log with just 2 points. They are still looking for their first league win of the season but had been threatening to break that duck after draws in 2 other recent matches at Spurs and at home to Brighton. Both those games finished 1-1 and Wolves conceded very late goals on both occasions.
Burnley chalked up a second win of the season last weekend, seeing off Leeds 2-0 at Turf Moor and those 3 points lifted them out of the drop zone. Their only other victory came in Round 2 against another newly promoted side, 2-0 at home to Sunderland. Away from home they have lost at Spurs (3-0), Man United (3-2), Man City (5-1) and Villa (2-1).
Burnley were dealt a poor hand in terms of early season away fixtures. They now visit a side under huge pressure and if Wolves don’t grab a lead I can see the home fans venting frustration. I’m with Burnley to pick them off twice.
Bet: Burnley total goals, over 1.5 at 28/10 with SuperSportBet
Everton v Spurs
Sunday’s late kick off sees mid table Everton bid to extend their unbeaten record in their new stadium. After a 2-0 defeat away to Man City last weekend they return home where they have beaten Brighton (2-0) and Palace (2-1) either side of draws with Villa and West Ham.
Spurs played out a 0-0 draw away to Monaco in the UCL in midweek and they return to league action with a better away record than they achieved at home. They coughed up an early lead in a 2-1 defeat at home to Villa last weekend but on their travels they have won at Man City (2-0), West Ham (3-0) and Leeds (2-1) in addition to a 2-2 draw at Brighton. Spurs finished the previous round in sixth place, 5 points behind league leaders Arsenal.
Spurs they have found the net at least twice in each of their EPL road trips but they have looked a bit below par in recent weeks. Everton have drawn 2 of 4 at home and have yet to lose, this could be another draw.
