Betting tips for the English Premier League matches taking place on Sunday 30th August including Chelsea vs Brighton, Leeds vs Brentford, Sunderland vs Fulham and Man United vs Ipswich
Chelsea vs Brighton
Chelsea and their new coach Xabi Alonso started their EPL campaign away to Fulham on Monday night and they came away with a 3-2 win. Joao Pedro opened the scoring in the first minute and although Fulham leveled the match up goals either side of half time from Morgan Rogers and Cole Plamer gave Chelsea daylight although Fulham fought back again and it finished 3-2. In midweek Danny Welbeck, who was signed from Brighton scored for Chelsea in their 2-0 Carabao Cup home win over Luton.
Brighton finished the opening weekend at the top of the standings after demolishing Villa 4-0 in a home fixture. The goals all came in the first 31 minutes starting with an own goal before Maxim de Cuyper and a Jack Hinshelwood brace put the game to bed. Villa then went down to 10 men but Brighton had declared. In midweek Brighton beat Tromso 4-0 in the Conference League play offs to make it through to the League phase (4-0 on aggregate)
Verdict
Chelsea and Brighton have both started well and it should be a decent contest. I’m with Chelsea to score 2-3 in the multi goals market
Bets: Chelsea multi goals 2-3 at 11/10 with Sportingbet
Leeds vs Brentford
Leeds have made a very positive start to their season with back to back wins away to Notts Forest. A late free kick from Anton Stach gave them all 3 points in a 1-0 win in last weekends opening round of the EPL. Leeds returned to the City Ground on Tuesday night and came away with a 2-0 win in the Carabao Cup with Dan James and James Justin scoring second half goals.
Brentford’s start to the season has been absolutely prefect. In their first league action they thrashed Spurs 3-0 with goals from Keane Lewis-Potter, Vitaly Janelt and Michael Kayode and it could have been four but for a missed penalty by Igor Thiago. In midweek Brentford had a potentially awkward trip to Birmingham in the Carabao Cup but they coasted to a 6-1 win and later completed the signing of El Hadji Malick Diouf after the full-back's arrival from West Ham in a deal worth £40m.
Verdict
A home win is 14/10, draw 22/10 and away win 15/10 which illustrates how tricky this one is with sides having made very positive starts. I’m going to go with a 2-3 multi goals.
Bets: Multigoals 2-3 at 11/10 with Sportingbet
Sunderland vs Fulham
Sunderland came unstuck away to newly promoted Ipswich last week. They fought their way back from a goal down to equalize with an Angulo free kick and looked good for at least a point before a second defensive error in the 90th minute was punished by the newly promoted side who won 2-1. Sunderland were not in EFL Cup action in midweek.
Fulham’s 3-2 home defeat to Chelsea was a less than perfect start for new boss Alvaro Arbeloa though he will have been encouraged by the performances of his two goalscorers Josh King and new signing Gonzalo Garcia. In midweek Garcia scored again in a 3-0 home win over Wimbledon in the Carabao Cup .
Verdict
I was very disappointed with Sunderland last week and wouldn’t be overly confident they will bounce back. However both teams to score and over 2.5 goals in total looks good in this one in my book.
Bets: Both teams to score and over 2.5 total goals? Yes at 27/20 with Sportingbet
Man United vs Ipswich
Man United began their season away to newly promoted Hull, they were considered bankers on the coupon by many punters but threw in a shocker in a 2-0 defeat. Carlos Baleba joined from Brighton this week but will be missing here with a minor injury, Amad Diallo is again absent, also through injury but Mason Mount could play a part.
Jack Clarke scored the winner for Ipswich at home to Sunderland last week to get 3 points on the board at the first time of asking and increase the optimism driven by an ambitious recruitment policy for the newly promoted side. In midweek a much changed side saw off Leicester in the EFL Cup with a 3-1 home win.
Verdict
I think there I a fair degree of belief in this Ipswich side and once again I'm with btts yes and 3 goals or more in total.
Bets: Both teams to score and over 2.5 total goals? Yes at 23/20 with Sportingbet
