The Betway Premiership action this week comes on Wednesday night when Mamelodi Sundowns host Marumo Gallants

Mamelodi Sundowns

Sundowns come into the game with 5 points from their opening two matches and a win here would see them join Pirates, Chiefs and Amazulu at the top of the standings. At the weekend Downs plated out a 1-1 draw with Chiefs at Soccer City, conceding the first goal just after the hour mark before Cassius Mailula squared things up on 76 minutes and that’s the way it stayed.

This game with Gallants was postponed on the opening weekend and Sundowns first league action saw them edge out TS Galaxy 3-2. Downs were 1-0 up early doors through Brayan Leon but it was all square by half time and Galaxy went in front on 77 minutes. Sphelele Mkhulise then turned things around, equalizing in the 88th minute and finding the winner in the fourth minute of injury time.

Sundowns first action of the new season delivered a 3-2 home win over Polokwane Ccity in the MTN8. They conceded early but were 2-1 up by half time thanks to goals from Mokoena and van Wyk. Polokwane equalized to force extra time and Mailula popped up with the winner in the 113th minute. Sundowns will meet Golden Arrows in the semi finals

Marumo Gallants

Gallants are finding it tough going in the early stages of the season. They began with a 0-0 draw in a home fixture against newly promoted Kruger United and on Friday last week they were beaten 3-1 away to Stellenbosch. They were 3-0 down in 54 minutes of that match before Dhludhlu scored a consolation in the 81st minute. With a single point Gallants are level with Kruger and Siwelele at the bottom of the standings but if they were to win this game in hand they would jump up to mid table.

Recent Head to Head

Last season Gallants drew their home game with Sundowns 1-1 in September and then beat them on spot kicks in the Carling Knockout in October after a 0-0 draw. The second Betway Premiership meeting took place in March and Sundowns won it 3-1.

The Betting

At the time of writing Sundowns are 3/10 favourites with the draw at 37/10 and Gallants are 10/1 shots

A game of 3 goals or more is priced at 6/10 and it's 11/10 for both teams to score

Note, odds are subject to change

The Verdict

It’s hard to look past a home win here and I'm wagering it will arrive with a clean sheet

Bets: Which teams to score? only Sundowns at 9/10 with Lucky Fish
