Happy new year!

Back to business!  Dregs v Scarlets 1st up. Big home crowd, got to fancy the Dregs on either +4.5 or the win. Weather is good and there have been changes to both sides. I'm expecting an open game so am on overs too at 47.5 :-o

I am not quite ready to jump back in - below my thoughts on Thursdays games
  • Dragons RFC v Scarlets – Rodney Parade, 17:00
    Dragons +4.5 v Scarlets, Points 48.5
Verdict: The handicap has been stable and I am expecting a tight game. My lean here is Scarlets by 1-12 points inclusive at 15/10 but I am going to be watching the cricket so won’t have a bet.
  • Ospreys v Cardiff Rugby – Dunraven Brewery Field, 19:30
    Ospreys -3.5 v Cardiff, Points 46.5
Verdict: The handicap has been stable on this game as well and it should be a typical tight derby. The points line of 46.5 is tempting (would of arrived in 4 of the last 5 meetings) but although the rain should of passed it will be freezing cold and I am reluctant to pull the trigger on my 1st bet of 2026

Brent - no rain in the BBC forecast for Newport or Bridgend for the rest of the day and not too cold at 6 or 7 C for the games.

50 miles further west we've had a couple of light showers but that's it.

Looking forward to the games.

So I've gone over 45.5 in the O's game. If this doesnt pay I'm giving up on overs for the rest of the year - its insane!

EDIT: Phew!

Very poor showing by Cardiff , 3 unconverted tries in the last 7 minutes , still wasn't good enough for my plus . Sigh . Very cold in the UK but dry .

Munster play with a weaker side , Ulster name a strong side , still it being a derby makes the cap a tough call to make , points as low as 44.5 which even for me is too low.

Newcastle still to have a win in the Premiership this year, played better last week and earned their 1st and only point of the season despite their new Red Bull money. They host Gloucester who themselves have just 8 points from 8 games . As Oracle would say , shite v shite . However I will very tentatively go with the plus 5.5 Newcastle at 5.5 and close my eyes for the egg.

In the other game Sale, generally poor travellers go to Bristol. cap around the 6.5 mark but it's the unders at 56.6 that has my attention.
