Western Utd vs Newcastle Jets

The Jets are now rock bottom after 9 matches without a win, with only two draws to show for their efforts.
However, those two draws came in their last two matches against tough opposition, Perth Glory (1-1) and Macarthur (2-2), both play-off contenders.

Western are 1 point outside the play-off zone (top 6), but they have 3 games in hand over those teams.

Three weeks ago these two teams played in Newcastle and Western won 1-0.

I expect a Western win, as they are overall the better team and have had more consistent results.
Also, the Jets have improved a bit lately as they came off with important scoring draws, and with the nice weather and excellent pitch in Melbourne, I expect both teams to contribute to the scoring tonight.

Sydney FC vs Melbourne Victory

Sydney will play at home in front of their own fans.

Melbourne Victory is struggling this season. They are trying to avoid finishing bottom of the league and after an unsuccessful campaign so far and several high scoring defeats, they changed their coach last round. As a result (or due to other factors) they won 5-4 against Western Sydney Wanderers, a team with play-offs aspirations. I don't think it's an overnight miracle, I think the reason is that the Wanderers just couldn't convert their opportunities and got caught on the counter. They absolutely dominated the match, but missed their opportunities. So it's not like Victory has become a giant killer overnight and they are now a team to be feared.

Sydney are on a 5-match unbeaten run, with their last 3 ended in draws however.
They have to end that series of draws and this is a good opportunity to do that.
They are 4th on the ladder, 4 points behind the league leaders, with a top 2 finish at the end of the regular season giving a big advantage in the play-offs, with home games and less rounds to play.
Sydney are simply too good for Melbourne Victory, they are the current champions and they have the tightest defence in the league, averaging 1 goals conceded per match.

For Victory Broxham is out injured, while McManaman, Brimmer and Robbie Kruse are suspended. All four players are major for the team.

Sydney will have the Australian international full back Rhyan Grant back from suspension.

Melbourne City vs Newcastle Jets

City are the form team of the competition at the moment. They have lost just one of their last 11 games and are topping the table by 1 point ahead and two games in hand. They won 8 of their last 11 games.
Except Melbourne Victory, the Jets are the most out of form team in the competition. They sit rock bottom on the A-League table. They have not won a single game in their last 10 games, having lost eight times across that stretch.
Anything less than a comfortable win over Newcastle Jets will be a huge surprise.

Adelaide are second best at home, 6W-1D-1L so far this season, while Western United have struggled to bring points home from their away matches, with only 2 wins away and those at the two bottom teams in the league, Melbourne Victory and Newcastle Jets, the rest only defeats.

Western United have the second worst away record in the league at just 2-0-5.

Playing in front of their own fans Adelaide should win again at home.
