Scottsville Wednesday, my thoughts ..

Race 1 Sanctity at 5/2, neither of the 2 joint favs are well drawn but nothing else stands out and preference for Sanctity who was close last time eout.

Race 2 Yoho Mist 13/2, ran a nice debut 4th beaten 1.35l

Race 3 Beckoning Beauty 5/2, last 3 runs were on the poly from outside gates but only win came at Scottsville over this trip

Race 4 Willy the Wizard 5/2 hard to split the top 4 in the betting, has the worst of the draw but only had 3 runs so scope for improvement

Race 5 Secret Giver 9/4 Has had quite a few of these behind at some stage and just beaten last time after a couple of months off and extra 150m today looks no issue

Race 6 Noble Nova at 2/1 , Fourie has ridden last 4 times, a tentaive call as best recent runs on poly but distance looks right

Race 7 Arrows Mark 6/1 consistent, just touched off last twice

Race 8 The Bayou 16/1, my roguhie for the day, horrible draw but good penultimate run over C&D

Race 9 Silver Dazzle 4/1, Silver Dazzle scratched, will throw in Sofia Erin 5/2 from same Loving the Victory form line

Race 10 Alfonse Baby 13/2, wide open race, consistent performer

Wednesday turned out well with winners The Bayou (100/7) and Alfonse Baby drifted to 25/2, plus Beckoning Beauty earlier in the day at 25/11 making up for some shocking runs from other picks and a double scrtaching in Race 8.


Battling to find anything at the Vaal on Thursday but will have another go at the weekend.

Scottsville Sunday, will try these, current prices at time of writing in {}

R3 Alittlebitnaughty (14/1) Very speculative call based on decent debut effort, went off 9/2 for that first run and perhaps something amiss when way back next time. Both those runs were on poly. Not a particuarly strong maiden so maybe a place chance.

R4 Mystic Master (3/1) - fluffed lines when backed into odds on on the poly last time, some solid enough efforts before that on turf

Race 5 Fly the Coup (3/1) - lightly raced and consistent over short trips since debut win, competitive race though so not overly keen on the price.

Race 7 Tromso (4/1) - 2 solid efforts on turf, just touched off since last win on poly, consistent and preferred over the favourite who's maiden win might not be that strong a form line

R8 Gavel Strike (8/1) - Down in class and trip with 4kg claimer up, awful draw to overcome.

R9 Flower of Saigon (11/2), another with a horrible draw but stays well beyond the 1600m and if a stronlgy run race I think she will be there at the finish.
