I had a decent round 1 with Wales unders romping home (as Jackal Rugby said in his blog Wales were lucky to get nil) and the Scotland unders delivering the main newsletter play - thanks The Admiral
Make sure you get this weeks newsletter - sign up in seconds here bit.ly/gftgnewsletter
Lost a bit on England to win but never really got involved in that game in the end.
Six Nations Round 2
We already have caps and based on a post on last weeks thread there has been some early line movement
Italy -6.5 v Wales (moved from -4.5)
England +4.5 v France
Scotland +4.5 v Ireland
There is also a lone URC game Stormers v Bulls and I think the Bulls may be around -4.5 for this one
Have a great week everyone and the rugby blog will be up tomorrow with any betting moves, key squad news and an early look at next weeks weather

ITA V WAL - 46.5
ENG V FRA - 44.5
SCO V IRE - 44.5 (some 43.5 about)
I'm tempted in by a few -
SCO V IRE over 43.5 pts @ 5/6
Weather looks clear for weekend, Scotland been playing with attacking mindset, don't think they try and out-muscle Ireland, can see both sides getting more chances that points line suggest.
FRANCE over 24.5 pts @ 5/6
Will likely be without Ntamack but France played average and scored with ease against Wales. England a much tougher test but still fancy French to bag a bonus pt win.

No rational basis for this other than if there was ever a must win game this is it.
Realistically, its the best chance of a win until the summer tour over in Japan. So if Italy are victorious then it would be 17 test losses on the trot at that point

For the more cautious, Wales + 7.5pts seems like easy money .....

Are the bookies "taking the piss" like last week Jameson? Afraid we going to have to slap a Welsh disclaimer on you

I’d like to see Wales win. I don’t really enjoy them losing as I have Welsh family and I’m running short of things to say to cheer them up!
Biggest game in many years for Wales.

The problem is that the WRU hired him without a performance clause in the contract? They cant afford to sack him ffs!

I wish the Bookies felt like Jameson so we could make some decent coin here as 6.5 is just at that questionable mark where the bastards in red could sneak a penalty to claim a point. Still looking for th best way to back the Azzurri but am thinking the opposite view of Jameson and taking a nibble on Italy -29.5 at 9/1 for now!

I don't think they are quite as 'kak' as you make out. Looking at the match stats for the French test, there weren't huge differences (possession was 50/50) except for one glaringly obvious stat which was the penalty count. The bastards in red were pinged off the park by that one eyed ref 3 - 12. Even the commentators raised an eyebrow at a few of them.
I look forward to you losing your life savings backing Italy lol

Not disrespecting your picks I just can't have a team who is currently ranked lower than Italy (and Fiji) and closer in points total to Georgia than the Italians.
Italy is a team on the up, in my extremely humble opinion, whilst I can't see the same "vibe" with Wales at present.
Ps. I only ever blow the life savings on the Sharks and the Protea cricket team

Yes I'm Welsh - and no need to apologise. Got to give and take in the business!
I am merely suggesting that whilst you could argue that Wales would not have scored against France even if they had played for another hour, the game was in fact closer than the score line suggests - and Italy are no France.
This is a massive game for us and we must win - I feel our national identity is being damaged!

I hope your lads can pull finger (not so much for my bets) but after the Gatland stunt where he basically asked the board in the changeroom infront of the players whether he should stay or go that he has lost all respect and quite possibly the changeroom.
Let's wait and see. Bring on the weekend!

I think you’ve answered your own question here Jameson . I also looked at the stats from Friday night & couldn’t believe that there wasn’t much in it for some of the stats, & yet final score was 43-0 with France in 3rd gear. This just highlights how inept wales are with the ball. Their attack was as feeble as I’ve seen. Shaun Edwards French defence soaking it up with ease time after time. If both teams play to their ability think it will be a Italy win possibly a comfortable 10/15 pt win

One that stands out is the Ireland v Scotland total of 43.5. I know internationals probably average lower than club games but this in my mind should be up near the 50s.
Am I missing something here?

Posted on Monday that the over 43.5 was my standout early bet. I have taken a view bookies are pricing this up as a typical arm wrestle when in fact Scotland like to attack and Ireland like to counter-attack. Makes for many scoring opportunities in my humble opinion.
Just a bit nervous like has held firm…

I've taken some Wales over 10.5 1st half pts @ evens. They were right in game at HT vs a good France side. Their forwards can give the Italians some trouble at scrum as had French scrum going back at times.

Ps3838 still had that line (43.5 in bet365) so big value with the rain expected
EDIT: well I´m stupid, this was u20 match so I take the opposite with some losses

Not a big fan of this competition but I find this line few points low, good conditions despite high humidity and strong sale team.

Yep Sod’s Law. Felt robbed and then 2nd try conversion attempt was absolutely hopeless.
Stakes lowish considering it’s under 20 but still, that was annoying.

You are in a no lose situation Jameson, if Wales are well beat well everyone seemed to expect it but if they win you will be unplayable

I think its going to be a tight game

I will feel for the Eyetalians though if they doo indeed pull it off as they have shown good improvement .
Wales played ok against France but couldn't score a try for of money. They'll find things easier of course against the hosts.
