The Ryder Cup is one of the most anticipated events in golf, pitting Team USA against Team Europe in a battle for pride, legacy, and the famous golden trophy. The 2025 edition takes place at Bethpage Black (New York), a notoriously tough and demanding track that will test every part of a player’s game and in this blog I will look at the various betting angles suggesting a few bets along the way.
Ryder Cup 2025 – Day 3 Singles Quad (BetXchange)
With Europe needing just 2.5 points to retain the Ryder Cup, I’m putting together a Day 3 singles 4-fold at BetXchange. I’ve gone the Draw No Bet (DNB) route on all four selections to cut out the risk of tied matches, especially given many of these may prove of statistical importance only. .
The 4-Fold Selections
Ben Griffin 0.74/1 (DNB) vs Rasmus Højgaard
Both will be disappointed to have only got 1 start and I am backing Griffin to be fired up for this one.
Patrick Cantlay 8/10 (DNB) vs Ludvig Åberg
Cantlay is as steady as they come in match play and has played well this week. Åberg is a bit inconsistent and may just feel the heat against one of the USA’s most reliable players.
J.J. Spaun 0.62/1 (DNB) vs Sepp Straka
Straka has played well in complementing Rahm but he has gone missing a bit as well and I think Spaun has been underplayed by his captain.
Justin Thomas 13/10 (DNB) vs Tommy Fleetwood
2 great Ryder Cup players and with the crowd behind him I reckon we get a JT charge.

Ryder Cup 2025 – Singles Preview
Europe head into the final day in a commanding position, having won all four sessions so far and needing just 2.5 points to retain the Ryder Cup. Good news for my bet but perhaps not the final days action I was hoping for.
As expected both captains have front-loaded their lineups, sending big names out early in an attempt to seize momentum as the USA chase an unlikely comeback and Europe look to close the door quickly.
The crowd has bordered on out of control at times but with the USA so far back expect to hear alot more Olé, Olé, Olé, Olé… Olé, Olé!

Day 2 Foursomes Bets

Bet: 2 units Correct Score 2–2 at 2.45/1 at Betxchange
I think bringing Young into the mix strengthens the USA, although I’m baffled by the decision to pair Morikawa with English again. Henley and Scheffler should have too much for MacIntyre and Hovland, while Young looks a great complement to Bryson, who is striking the ball superbly. On the European side, Rory and Tommy look bankers, and that leaves the Cantlay/Schauffele vs. Rahm/Hatton clash as pivotal. I’m leaning to Europe in that one, but overall I see the foursomes splitting evenly.
Bet: 0.5 unit on the acca at 9/1
I’ll also be taking a small acca on all four of my calls landing, which works out to 9/1 at BetXchange (1 unit):
-
Henley / Scheffler at 0.72
-
DeChambeau / Young at 0.95
-
McIlroy / Fleetwood at 0.53
-
Rahm / Hatton at 0.95

Ryder Cup 2025 – Betting Update
Posted 27 Sep 09h31
At the end of Day 1, Europe lead 5.5 – 2.5 after a dominant start. The visitors are now firm favourites in the outright market, but there’s still plenty of action left with Day 2 foursomes on the horizon.
I am shouting the Europeans home for my outright interest but the B Mac top Euro has gone up in smoke.
Below the odds currently on offer - I will return with a Foursomes acca!

BET: Day 1 Foursomes European Treble

I’m hoping to be couch-side when the first foursomes tee off, and I’m kicking things off with a European treble (tie no bet). Stakes are sensible as always for the Ryder Cup and I can’t wait for the action to begin.
Match 1: Rahm / Hatton (Europe) 17/20 vs. DeChambeau / Thomas (USA)
Rahm and Hatton were dominant in Rome, winning both of their Foursomes together. The bookies cannot separate the opening pairing and I am hoping that Hatton can get under Brysons skin and that Thomas is playing shots from areas of the course he has never seen.
Match 3: McIlroy / Fleetwood (Europe) 4/7 vs. Morikawa / English (USA)
Fleetwood is unbeaten in Foursomes, and his partnership with McIlroy is proven at the highest level. With English making his debut in this format and Morikawa not impressing me of late, the Europeans will anchor my treble.
Match 4: Hovland / MacIntyre (Europe) 23/20 vs. Schauffele / Cantlay (USA)
Schauffele and Cantlay are America’s most established duo, but they arrive off back-to-back Foursomes defeats in Rome. Hovland’s and MacIntyre give me a good feel and I am pleased to see the latter starting given he is my top Euro points pick.

The opening foursomes have been announced and below is the betting tie no bet. Some of the local books still to price up and I will get a bet or two down in the morning.
Match 1 – 1:10 p.m. SAST
Jon Rahm / Tyrrell Hatton (Europe) 5/6
vs.
Bryson DeChambeau / Justin Thomas (USA) 20/21
Match 2 – 1:26 p.m. SAST
Ludvig Åberg / Matt Fitzpatrick (Europe) 13/10
vs.
Scottie Scheffler / Russell Henley (USA) 8/13
Match 3 – 1:42 p.m. SAST
Rory McIlroy / Tommy Fleetwood (Europe) 5/9
vs.
Collin Morikawa / Harris English (USA) 7/5
Match 4 – 1:58 p.m. SAST
Viktor Hovland / Robert MacIntyre (Europe) 20/21
vs.
Xander Schauffele / Patrick Cantlay (USA) 5/6
BET: 1 unit Robert MacIntyre Top European Points Scorer at 12/1 at WSB

MacIntyre was part of the victorious Rome team, where he partnered with Justin Rose in the fourballs and the pair picked up 1.5 points from 2 matches. He also won his singles, underlining his appetite for match play. While he didn’t feature in the foursomes, which is a slight concern, he’s now a more complete player and looks a strong candidate to get the nod for the Friday morning session. If he performs well early, he could continue to be picked throughout the weekend.
MacIntyre has the game for Bethpage Black, is already a two-time PGA Tour winner, and strikes me as the sort of player who will thrive in a heated Ryder Cup atmosphere.
BET: 2 units Europe to win at 35/20 at WSB

History suggests Europe has it all to do, and there’s no doubt a raucous US crowd and a course set up to suit the hosts will make this a huge challenge. On paper, the USA team holds the edge with higher average world rankings, but I really like the balance and mix of this European side. The absence of players like Dustin Johnson and Brooks Koepka, neither of whom played well enough to qualify, leaves the Americans looking a touch more vulnerable. I’m siding with Europe here, backing a team that I believe can thrive under the intense pressure and hostile atmosphere created by the US fans.

The Course: Bethpage Black
Bethpage Black is a brutal par-71 layout measuring over 7,400 yards. Known for its narrow fairways, punishing rough, and iconic “Warning” sign at the first tee, it’s considered one of the toughest public courses in the USA. Long hitters often have the advantage here, but accuracy is equally vital with the rough waiting to swallow up any stray drives.
A boisterous crowd will put heaps of pressure on the Europeans who will need to be supportive of each other and thick skinned to pass this test.
Ryder Cup Recent History
- 2023 (Marco Simone, Italy): Europe regained the trophy with a 16½–11½ victory, powered by Jon Rahm, Viktor Hovland, and Rory McIlroy.
- 2021 (Whistling Straits, USA): The Americans recorded a record-breaking 19–9 win, driven by a younger, hungrier team.
- 2018 (Le Golf National, France): Europe dominated 17½–10½, showing once again how difficult away wins can be.
Home advantage has been critical—the USA haven’t won in Europe since 1993, while Europe have rarely tasted success on American soil.
2025 Ryder Cup Format
The Ryder Cup spans three days of match play golf, with 28 points up for grabs in total. On Friday, September 26 and Saturday, September 27, there will be four foursomes and four fourballs each day (the order of play to be decided by the captains). The contest concludes on Sunday, October 28 with 12 singles matches, where every player is on course in a head-to-head showdown. The first team to reach 14½ points wins the Ryder Cup, while a 14–14 tie means the holders, Team Europe, will retain the trophy.
Betting Markets
Here are a few of the popular markets. During the week we will also look at top points sorer and other markets.
Win Only
Who will win the Ryder Cup outright?
- USA 1.72
- Europe 2.35
- Tie 13.00
A tie is rare, but not impossible—last seen in 1989.
To Lift Trophy
Same as “Win Only,” but with the crucial distinction that if the match ends in a tie, the current holders (Europe) retain the trophy.
- USA 1.72
- Europe 2.10
Margin of Victory
Predict how wide the winning margin will be. Great for punters looking for a longer price:
- USA 1–3 4.75
- Europe 1–3 4.75
- USA 4–6 5.50
- USA 7+ 5.00
- Europe 4–6 6.50
- Europe 7+ 7.00
- Tie 13.00
Early Thoughts
- USA enter as favourites, bolstered by home support and a squad stacked with major winners. They will be looking to get off to a fast start to get the crowd fired up and if they do it will be tough for Europe to peg them back.
- Europe have team chemistry and recent momentum on their side, making them a very lively underdog. This looks to me like the strongest European I have seen on US soil in recent times.
- I will be back with more posts and of course a few bets throughout the week and we also have a Ryder Cup discussion thread open in the forum
