The latest Goodforthegame newsletter penned by @BrentGraham with best bets for the 19th to 21st June including the Fifa World and URC and Super Rugby Finals
Last week I was big on under 8.5 tries in the Chiefs v Crusaders game. At halftime with the score 42-5 to the Chiefs and seven tries already scored. I'd effectively written the bet off and was only half keeping an eye on the second half.
But as the clock ticked past the 70-minute mark and I was somehow still winning the bet, I began to dream. In the end, though, it's the hope that kills. The Chiefs scored a late try to sink the bet and leave me wishing I had rather been put out of my misery early.
I did at least manage to land the Mexico to win without conceding bet against Bafana Bafana, and now I’m looking forward to what promises to be a fantastic weekend of finals rugby.
There's also the US Open golf taking place. I wanted to back Rory McIlroy before the off but missed the opportunity. Looking at the leaderboard, I may well be searching for a couple of players after Round 2 who can come from off the pace. The conditions are brutal and scores could easily blow out over the weekend on what is proving to be a very tough, windswept layout.
I will post any bets in the US Open thread in the forum
THE HANDICAP
Oracle joined me on The Handicap on Thursday evening and we discussed the URC Final, the Springboks versus the Barbarians, and also touched on the Hurricanes versus Chiefs Super Rugby semifinal.
NOTE: There will be no “The Handicap” next week and some changes to the show are in the pipeline

WEEKEND PLAYS
An Arm Wrestle at Croke Park!
The rugby action gets underway later tonight and I think the Bulls are big runners at around 18/10.

The bet I fancy most, however, is unders on points. There has been plenty of rain around Dublin and the forecast suggests more rain throughout the game. Both URC semifinals were tight, low-scoring affairs and I’m hoping we get something similar at Croke Park.
The line has moved since I posted the preview but I am going to make it the 1st leg of a treble.
Leg 1: Under 47.5 URC Final at 0.78/1
Hurricanes to show their class!
I also fancy the Hurricanes to do the business against the Chiefs tomorrow. I simply feel they have been a cut above the rest for most of the season.
At the same time, I found myself looking at the under 7.5 tries at 11/10. I will still have a nibble at that price with PokerBet, but I have been burned so often in this market lately that I’m going into it slightly punch drunk.
Instead, my main play will be the handicap.

Leg 2: Hurricanes -4.5 at 0.73/1
Boks can run riot in Gqeberha
The Boks points line has moved out since the preview was posted but I reckon they raise their bat for a half century in what looks like good conditions. Last year they put 50 on what I think was a slightly strong Barbarians team
Leg 3: Boks over 47.5 points at 8/10
Bet: 2 units (1-5) the above treble at 4.54/1 at Betxchange
World Cup Soccer
The World Cup continues and, having been quite critical of Bafana Bafana earlier in the tournament, I was impressed with their final quarter against Czechia last night. They fought back to equalise via a penalty and then came very close to snatching a winner.
Their next challenge is South Korea and they will go into the game as underdogs. Hopefully they can produce something special and keep their tournament alive.
Other Highlights on Good for the Game
- The UFC continues on Sunday morning South African time and the preview is once again courtesy of World Sports Betting.
- Chris continues to preview every World Cup match and links to all of those previews can be found on the home page.
- Finally, stay close to both the rugby and World Cup threads in the forum.
- The Durban July betting thread is also beginning to gather momentum and should provide plenty of discussion over the coming weeks.
After a hectic couple of weekends on the social front, I’m planning to take things a little easier this weekend and will be watching Leinster versus the Bulls from the comfort of the couch.
All of the best for your bets and enjoy the weekend.
