RACE 1
JUST CARTER made the trip to Cape Town last time and contested in the Non-Black Type Charles Dickens Stakes. He produced a promising debut effort over 900m on the polytrack. The son of Hawwaam gets the services of 4kgs claiming Apprentice Bavish Soodoo which should assist his cause. If jumping on terms, he should be competitive.
U S RANGER produced an eye-catching debut effort when third over this C&D. Despite losing a length leaving the start, he showed speed and fought hard all the way to the line. The son of Act Of War would have gained from the experience and with the natural improvement that is expected, he should pose a massive threat.
GREY EAGLE is an imported son of Trip Two Win from the Dean Smith stable with Craig Zackey in the saddle. If not in need of the run, he should start his career on a positive note. The betting market will be the best guide with regards to him and the other unraced entrants.
RACE 2
DAFFODIL DELIGHT is an unraced daughter of What A Winter from the Alan Greeff stable with Richard Fourie in the saddle. She is related to two-time winner Sun Spectacular. If not in need of the run, she should start her career on a positive note. The betting market will be the best guide with regards to her and the other first timers.
WILD STAR finished 0.25 lengths behind TP THUNDERCHILD on debut. She is 4kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. The daughter of Canford Cliffs would have come on from the run and with experience on her side, she should go close.
TP THUNDERCHILD found plenty of betting support when third on debut over 900m on the polytrack. The daughter of Real Gone Kid would have come on from the run and with Muzi Yeni in the saddle, she should have good improvement to come.
RACE 3
BAIE MOOI is the top bet on the programme. She was an impressive winner of her last start over 1400m on the polytrack. She showed a good turn of foot that day and drew clear of the opposition. The daughter of Canford Cliffs should love the rise to the mile and should have no issues with the turf. It is a small field and from pole position, she can follow up with another victory.
ENCHANTING CHOICE is better than her last start as she was reported to be not striding out. She would have come on from the run and should strip much fitter. The daughter of Rafeef may be the one to fill the exacta spot.
FAMILY POWER produced a good comeback run when second over this distance on the polytrack. It must be noted that Royal City Girl has come out and won again since. She gets the services of 4kgs claiming Apprentice Bavish Soodoo which will assist her cause. She will strip much fitter and is a big runner.
RACE 4
ROCKIE BLUE has produced three good runs to date. She moved up well over 1200m on the turf last time, before getting caught late by Overture who looks to be above average. The daughter of Heavenly Blue was reported to be in season that day. She will love the rise to 1400m and with a bit of luck in running, she can go one better.
BLAME IT ON ME has improved since relocation to the Eastern Cape. He found one too good in the form of Eriks Love over this distance on the polytrack last time. Should the top choice fluff her lines, he may be the one to pick up the pieces.
CLIFFIE CLAVIN is better than his last start as he was reported to have a mouth injury and coughing. His effort on 24 October 2025 catches the eye. He finished second over this C&D under 4kgs claiming Apprentice Girish Dookhit that day. The son of Canford Cliffs would not be a shock winner.
RACE 5
LANCIAFIAMME has consistent form lines to his credit. He raced from a handy position in the Non-Black Type Fairview 1900 but found one too good in the form of Zatara Magic. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. Two of his four career victories have come over this C&D. He carries a handy galloping mass of 52.5kgs and may find himself in the winner’s enclosure.
JOKER MAN was touched off in the Non-Black Type Founders Trophy over this distance on the polytrack last time. He is having his first run on the turf and if suited, he should fight out the finish.
ZINOVI is better than his last start in the Grade 2 Allied Steelrode – Onamission Charity Mile. He returns from a 13-week break which would have done him the world of good. Luyolo Mxothwa steps back into the saddle and if fit, he should have a say in the outcome of this contest.
Race 6
HOME REEF is better than his last start in the Non-Black Type Fairview 1900 as he was reported to be not striding out. Two of his five career victories have come on this course. The son of Erupt has no stamina issues and on best form shown, he can return to winning ways.
GEORGE HANDEL took his chances in the Grade 3 Cape Of Good Hope Chairman’s Cup over 2500m at Hollywoodbets Kenilworth last time. He finished second in his only attempt over this C&D. The son of Oratorio runs well for Xolani Ndlovu and is one of the leading contenders.
JUAN CARLOS is better than his last two starts on the polytrack. He has won once, finished second once and third once from as many starts over this C&D. He will love the return to the turf and cannot be discounted.
RACE 7
ROMAN AGENT has good consistent form lines to his credit. He raced from a handy position over this C&D last time and tried hard all the way to the line. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. The son of Vercingetorix won his only attempt over this C&D. He carries a handy galloping mass of 52kgs and can notch up his fourth-career victory.
MERCANTOUR is better than his last start over 1400m at Turffontein. Four of his eleven victories have come over this distance. He has has been at his best on the polytrack of late, but is the class horse in the race and is a big threat.
ANUSCHKA‘S WORLD ran a fair race over 1000m on this course last time. It must be noted that Kingdundee has come out and won a Grade 1 since. He has won once, finished second three times and third once from seven starts over this C&D. The son of One World is a solid back-up for the Kelly Mitchley stable.
RACE 8
This is a weak Merit Rated 66 Handicap and caution is advised. The tentative first selection is ARE YOU SURE who is having her first outing for the Zietsman Oosthuizen stable. She has been campaining against stronger company in KwaZulu-Natal. The daughter of Futura takes a drop in class and despite her big mass of 63kgs, she may be the one to side with.
FREE WORLD lacked extra late over 1300m last time. Her penultimate run when fourth over this distance on the polytrack, catches the eye. Luyolo Mxothwa steps back into the saddle and she should pose a threat.
CHAMPAGNE PROBLEMS was an easy winner in her local debut over this distance on the polytrack. She is having her first run out the maidens and may be up to the task at hand
