Winning Form selections for @Hollywoodbets Scottsville on Sunday 1st March where there are huge prizes available in the free to enter Punters Challenge
Race 1
ANUSHKA caught the eye when third on debut over 1100m on this course. She lost a length leaving the start and finished off her race strongly. The daughter of Declarationofpeace would have gained from the experience and with the natural improvement that is expected, she may be the one to beat.
JAPURA tried hard when second over this C&D last time, but found one too good in the form of Durban Diamond. The daughter of Querari is a progressive type and she should pose a massive threat.
MEKONG finished 1.7 lengths behind the second choice last time. The pair meet on the same weight terms today. She would have come on from the run and should make the natural progression.
Race 2
GLOBAL TREND was a surprise winner on debut over this C&D. She showed good pace, found another kick and drew clear of the opposition. It must be noted that the horse that finished fourth that day has come out and won since. The daughter of Red Ray could be anything and can remain unbeaten.
DURBAN DIAMOND won a good race on debut over this C&D. The daughter of Hawwaam showed a good turn of foot and won going away. Keagan de Melo steps into the saddle and she should run another big race.
ODE TO THE SEA fought hard for victory over this C&D last time. It must be noted that the horse that finished third that day has come out and won since. He is a progressive type and can finish in the placings.
Race 3
PSYCHE is the top bet on the programme. She has finished third in all three starts to date. She was unlucky not to have won her last start over 1600m on this course last time. The daughter of Gimmethegreenlight will love the rise to 1750m and in this line-up, she should find herself in the winner’s enclosure.
SKIPPER O’MALLEY stayed on when third over 1800m on the polytrack last time. It must be noted that the horse that finished fourth that day has come out and won since. The daughter of Fire Away may be the one to fill the exacta spot.
SKYLINE BELL is better than her last start as she was reported to be not striding out. She finished 1.3 lengths behind the second choice in her penultimate run. She is 2kgs worse off at the weights today and may have to settle for the same result.
Race 4
JP’S PALACE ran a good race when second in the Non-Black Type Fever Tree Stakes last time. He was unlucky not to have won that day as he was interfered with between the 200m mark and 50m mark. Rachel Venniker retains the ride and from pole position, he can go one better.
TYRCONNELL finished 0.15 lengths behind the top choice last time. The pair meet on the same weight terms today and there should not be much separating them at the finish.
CAPSAICIN is better than his last start in the Non-Black Type Michael Roberts Stakes. He is likely to get his own way in front in this contest and on best form shown, he may be hard to peg back.
Race 5
ROLAND GARROS won a gutsy race over this distance at Hollywoodbets Kenilworth last time. He set the pace and found another kick to hold all challengers at bay. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. If taking to this course, he can follow up with another victory.
I’M A FIREBALL is better than his last start in the Grade 2 TAB Gauteng Guineas. He broke the course record over 1450m on the Vaal Classic track in his penultimate outing. Should the top choice fluff his lines, he may be the one to pick up the pieces.
GOTTA GO EDDIE has finished second in his last two starts. He finished third in his only attempt over this distance. The son of Gimmethegreenlight cannot be discounted.
Race 6
GREENLIGHT QUEEN ran a fair race over 1200m on the polytrack last time. She was reported to be not striding out that day. It must be noted that multiple horses from the form line have come out and won since. Keagan de Melo is booked to ride and he may be able to coax that little bit extra out her where it matters most.
FLYING REIGN STORM set the pace over 1600m on the polytrack last time and kept finding to keep all challengers at bay. She has won over this C&D previously. Should the top choice fluff her lines, she may be the one to pick up the pieces.
LITTLEBLACKGEM has fair recent form lines to her name. Her record over this distance is an obvious concern, but in this type of field, she should earn another cheque for her patrons.
Race 7
LICENCE TO THRILL stayed on when third over this C&D last time. It must be noted that multiple horses from that form line have come out and won since. All six of his career victories have come over this C&D. He is having his peak run and can return to winning ways.
KALAHARI ROLLER produced a typical second run after a rest last time. He has won twice, finished second once and third twice from seven starts on this course. On best form shown, he may be the one to cause the surprise.
FUTURE FLO won a good race over 1400m on the polytrack last time. He has won once and finished third three times from six starts over this C&D. S’manga Khumalo retains the ride and the combination merit healthy respect.
Race 8
SARAGOSSA CAT is better than her last start as she was reported to be not striding out. She returns from a 10-week break and is having her first run for the Tienie Prinsloo stable. She has won once and finished second once from three starts over this distance. If settled into her new surroundings, she may be the one to beat.
DAWN SURPRISE has won four of her last seven starts. She showed good speed over this C&D last time, found a good kick and won with a ton in hand. She takes a rise in class, but is in a good space and should be up to the task at hand.
CAPTAIN’S PRIDE is better than her last start over this C&D. She is back against her own sex and on the form of her penultimate run, she should be competitive
