Winning Form selections for racing from Turffontein on Sunday 9th November where there are huge prizes available in the free to enter @Hollywoodbets Punters Challenge
Race 1
TEMPRANILLO is the best bet on the programme. She produced a promising debut effort when second over 1000m on the Vaal Classic course. She raced from just off the pace, but found one too good in the form of Vanakkam who has come out and finished second since. The daughter of Querari would have gained from the experience and will love the rise to 1160m. It is encouraging that Gavin Lerena rides and the combination should find themselves in the winner’s enclosure.
SEED SEEKER found one too good in the form of Trajanus over 1000m on the Inside course last time. Should the top choice fluff her lines, he may be the one to pick up the pieces.
HAMMER BLOW finished 0.6 lengths behind the second choice last time. The pair meet on the same weight terms today and there should not be much separating them at the finish.
Race 2
HATHIGHWAYTOTHESKY showed good improvement when second over 1200m at the Vaal last time. She stayed on at the finish but found one too good in the form of Vamanos. The daughter of Hat Puntano gets the services of 4kgs claiming Apprentice Savanna Valjalo which will assist her cause. She is a progressive type and can go one better.
INSPIRATION finished 0.6 lengths behind the top choice last time. She is 4kgs worse off at the weights today and may have to settle for the same result.
MARIA LA GORDA finished 0.8 lengths behind the top choice in the race referred to above. She is a progressive type but may battle to turn the form around.
Race 3
TASKMASTER showed good improvement when third over 1450m on the Inside course last time. He should have finished closer that day as he had to be switched at the 200m mark. The son of Mootasadir would have come on from the run and should strip much fitter. In this type of field, he should be the one to beat.
MILAN‘S WORLD stayed on at the finish when second over 1200m at the Vaal last time. He will strip much fitter. Calvin Habib retains the ride, and he may be the one to fill the exacta spot.
DAWSON‘S ANVIL is an unraced son of Rafeef from the Mike and Mathew de Kock stable with Sean Veale booked to ride. He is related to two-time winner Douglas Dragon. If not in need of the run, he should start his career on a positive note. The betting market will be the best guide with regards to his chances.
Race 4
BUFFALO STORM CODY finished strongly to win his seasonal debut over this C&D. He would have come on a lot from the outing. Gavin Lerena steps back into the saddle, and he should notch up his seventh- career victory.
WILLIAM ROBERTSON returns from a 14-week break and is having his first run this season. He has won three times and finished second twice from as many starts over this C&D. He finished 3.1 lengths behind the top choice in the Grade 1 Mercury Sprint. He is 2kgs better off at the weights and merits healthy respect.
GREATERIX has been disappointing in both his runs this season. He gets the tongue-tie fitted which may do the trick. On best form shown, he would not be a shock winner.
Race 5
ALPINE JET was an impressive winner over this distance at the Vaal last time. She won a lot easier than the official margin suggests that day. The daughter of Vercingetorix takes on stronger, but she carries a handy galloping mass of 52kgs. She looks to have class about her and may find herself in the winner’s enclosure.
WHISTLE THE TUNE ran a fair race in the Grade 1 Mercury Sprint last time. She finished second in her only attempt over this C&D. The daughter of Captain Of All is making her seasonal debut and if not in need of the run, she should go close.
ALMOND SEA ran a fair race in her comeback outing over 1160m on this course. She has won twice, finished second once and third once from as many starts over this C&D. Gavin Lerena steps back into the saddle and the combination merit healthy respect.
Race 6
GERBERA showed good signs of a form return over 1450m on the Inside course last time. She was settled at the rear of the field that day and finished off her race well. The daughter of One World won her only attempt over this C&D. She will love the return to the longer straight and with Craig Zackey retaining the ride, she can notch up her third-career victory.
DESTINY OF FIRE stayed on when third in the Grade 2 Betway Joburg Spring F & M Challenge last time. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. If finding the form of her penultimate run, she should pose a threat.
KISSHOTEN quickened up well when winning her last start over this distance on the Vaal Classic course. She finished second in her only attempt on this course. She does have a wide draw to overcome, but Calvin Habib knows her well and should give her all the necessary assistance from the saddle.
Race 7
This is a competitive Grade 3 Betway Victory Moon Stakes field and caution is advised. LEGEND OF ARTHUR from the Sean Tarry stable is the tentative first selection. He was outpaced over 1160m in his comeback run and stayed on at the finish. The son of Lancaster Bomber finished third in his only C&D attempt. He will strip much fitter and will be mowing down the frontrunners.
WILD INTENT was in need of his comeback run over 1450m on the Inside course. He finished second in both his efforts on this course. He will strip much fitter and would not be a shock winner.
SHOOT THE RAPIDS stayed on at the finish in the Non-Black Type Michaelmas Handicap last time. He would have come on from the outing and should strip much fitter. If all went well with his travels, he should be involved at the finish.
Race 8
PIONEER SQUARE was given a peach of a ride when winning the Non-Black Type Michaelmas Handicap last time. He set the pace and held on where it matters most. He has finished second three times from as many starts on this course. Rachel Venniker retains the ride, and he can bring up the hat-trick.
ALADDIN‘S LAMP produced an encouraging comeback run over 1450m last time. He has won twice and finished second once from as many starts on this course. He will love the rise in distance and should strip much fitter.
TAEGAN‘S CHAMP stayed on nicely when second over 1600m on the Inside course last time. The son of Gimmethegreenlight will love the rise to 1800m and from his good draw of two, he should have a say in the outcome of this contest.
Race 9
DARK SILVER raced from a handy position over this distance on the Vaal Classic course last time, tried hard but found one too good in the form of Coppola. The son of Heavenly Blue would have come on from the run and should strip much fitter. He jumps from a good draw of two and can notch up his third- career victory.
IMPACT INVESTOR has finished second in his last three starts over this distance. He would have come on from his last outing and should strip much fitter. Gavin Lerena may be able to get the best out of him where it matters most.
BUDDY BOY was all at sea in his post maiden effort at Hollywoodbets Greyville. The son of What A Winter looks to have ability and carries a handy galloping mass of 53.5kgs. If not too green on his track debut, he should be involved at the finish
