Race 1
BAKWENA finished 2.85 lengths behind ARISTOTLE last time. She is 6kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough to turn the form around. The manner in which she finishes off her races suggests that she will love the rise to 2000m. She is the stable elect with Keagan de Melo aboard and can return to winning ways.
ARISTOTLE was given a peach of a ride when winning the Listed TAB Dr Richard Maponya Handicap last time. He is in a good space and merits healthy respect.
KUDZU has fair consistent form lines to his name. He has won once and finished third once from three starts over this distance. He is carded to race on 07 February 2026 and his progress in that race will need to be monitored.
Race 2
EL ZANI produced a promising debut effort over this C&D in a work riders event. She was slow into stride, understandably raced green but stayed on nicely at the finish. The daughter of Hawwaam would have gained from the experience and with the natural improvement that is expected, she may be the one to beat.
MASTER‘S LADY has fair recent form lines to her name. She gets the services of 4kgs claiming Apprentice Blaine Marx-Jacobson which may assist her cause. Should the top choice fluff her lines, she may be the one to pick up the pieces.
SLENDER SILHOUETTE is lightly raced with fair form lines to her name. She returns from a 14-week break. The well-bred daughter of Vercingetorix has scope and would not be a shock winner.
Race 3
KING REDOUTE was in need of his debut effort over this C&D. The son of Rafeef would have gained from the experience. He meets the right field and with the natural improvement that is expected, he should take a power of beating.
MRS STORMIATRIX ran a fair race in her local debut over 1160m at Turffontein. She was reported to be not striding out and blowing that day. The daughter of Vercingetorix will strip much fitter and there should be good improvement to come from her.
POWER OF TIGER was disappointing in a work riders contest last time. She gets the blinkers fitted which should keep her mind on the task at hand. On best form shown, she should have a say in the outcome of this contest.
Race 4
AFRICAN PRIDE is better than his last start over this C&D. He finished 0.75 lengths behind CHAPBOOK in his penultimate run. He is 4kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. Ryan Munger is booked to ride and he may be able to coax that little bit extra out of him where it matters most.
KAALVOET was disappointing over 1160m at Turffontein last time. Calvin Habib steps back into the saddle and on best form shown, he should pose a threat.
CHAPBOOK is better than his last start as he was reported to be not striding out. The son of Rafeef drops back to 1000m and the blinkers are re-fitted. The booking of Gavin Lerena is a big plus and he cannot be discounted.
Race 5
CAROLINE ISLAND is lightly raced with good form lines to her credit. She showed pace when second over this C&D last time. The daughter of Querari is having her peak run today and should be cherry-ripe. She is drawn on the outside of the course and may be hard to peg back.
SAKETINI followed up his maiden win with a good second-place finish over this distance at Turffontein. The son of Danon Platina has shown good improvement since joining the Fabian Habib stable. He has plenty of scope and is one of the leading contenders.
HIS LORDSHIP finished 0.05 lengths behind the second selection last time. He is 0.5kgs better off at the weights today and there should not be much separating the pair at the finish.
Race 6
STORMY DAY‘S last start in the Grade 3 TAB Starling Stakes is best ignored as she was reported to be lame on her left hind. She returns from a 14-week break which would have done her the world of good. She won her penultimate run over this distance on the Turffontein Inside course. If not in need of the run, she can return to winning ways.
PERFECT MIRACLE stayed on when fourth in the Listed Betway Swallow Stakes. The daughter of Hawwaam has ability and with Gavin Lerena in the saddle, she can go close.
TUSCAN ROMANCE has good consistent form lines to her name. It must be noted that multiple horses from her last outing have come out and won since. She won her penultimate effort over this C&D and merits healthy respect.
Race 7
SEASON‘S GREETINGS ran a good race when third in the Listed Betway Swallow Stakes last time. She raced from just off the pace and stayed on at the finish. It must be noted that the horse that finished second that day has come out and won since. She drops back in class and with Gavin Lerena back in the saddle, she should take a power of beating.
MISS NOVAX ran a fair race over 1000m on this course last time. She is the stable elect with Craig Zackey in the saddle. The daughter of Flower Alley may be the one to fill the exacta spot.
BLUSHING BLOOM is better than her last start as she raced wide around the turn and was reported to be not striding out. The 17-week break may have done her the world of good. On her previous form, she can feature.
Race 8
CARTAGENA is a winner of her last two starts, the latest of which was over this C&D. She received a four-pound penalty for that victory. The daughter of Skitt Skizzle is in a good space and can notch up the hat-trick.
COPPER PLATE finished 0.4 lengths behind the top choice last time. He is 1kg worse off at the weights today and may have to settle for the same result.
ROMEO‘S MAGIC finished 1.5 lengths behind COPPER CLIFF last time. He is 3kgs better off at the weights today and should turn the form around. He jumps from pole position and must be included in all bets.
Race 9
JAFFA followed up his maiden victory with a good third-place finish over 1700m. He was slow into stride, but finished off his race strongly. It must be noted that the form of that outing has been franked. The son of The United States should love the extra 100m on offer and can return to winning ways.
FORCE PUBLIQUE stayed on when sixth over 1700m last time. He has won once and finished second once from as many starts on this course. Keagan de Melo retains the ride and the combination will be doing their best work at the finish.
STORM AHEAD lost two lengths leaving the start last time, but stayed on to finish fifth. He has won twice and finished third four times from seven starts over this distance. He has cracked pole position and merits obvious consideration.
Race 10
NORTHERN KITTEN set the pace over 1600m on this course last time and lasted long enough to keep all challengers at bay. The daughter of Admiral Kitten takes a drop in class. She jumps from a good draw of two and may be hard to peg back.
GOLDEN ASPEN ran on strongly when winning her last start over 1400m at Turffontein. She has won once and finished third twice from eight starts over this C&D. She is likely to be settled near the rear of the field from her wide draw and will be mowing down the frontrunners.
CONCORDIA finished 1.5 lengths behind the second choice last time. She is 1.5kgs better off at the weights today and there should not be much separating the pair at the finish
