ICED MARMALADE cost herself winning last time as she hung inwards in the final 150m. It must be noted that the horse that finished third that day has come out and won since. The daughter of Danon Platina is in a good space and if keeping on a straight line, she can go one better.
TRULY MAGICAL followed up her maiden victory with a creditable fourth-place finish over this C&D. She gets the services of 4kgs claiming Apprentice Wilmien Fourie. Should the top choice fluff her lines, she may be the one to pick up the pieces.
CHIEF RUNNER has shown improvement in his last three starts. His penultimate run when second, catches the eye. If not too far out of his ground turning for home, he can surprise.
RACE 3
QUEEN OF CASTILLE showed good improvement when third over 1200m on this course last time. The manner in which she finished off her race that day suggests that she will love the extra furlong on offer. With a bit of luck from her awkward draw, she may have more to come.
GREEN POINT was reported to be changing strides in running when third over this distance on the turf. He is drawn widest of all, but Marco van Rensburg knows him well and should give him all the necessary assistance from the saddle.
HARPA showed some signs of needing her local debut over this C&D. She would have come on from the outing and should strip much fitter. Kaidan Brewer rides and she can finish in the placings.

ABOVE THE HORIZON has finished second in his last three starts. It must be noted that Kleinzee has come out and won again since. He has won twice, finished second twice and third once from six starts over this C&D. He has cracked a good draw of two and may be rewarded for consistency.
TOO LATE MY MATE has finished third in both her local efforts, the latest of which was over this C&D. She takes on male company, but is in a good space and should pose a massive threat.
VILA VICOSA was an easy winner of his last start over this C&D. He received a six-pound penalty for that victory. The son of Last Winter takes on stronger, but he is in a good space and cannot be discounted.
RACE 5
GUTSY BABY found the 1200m on the short side last time. She won her maiden over this C&D in her penultimate outing. Kyle Strydom steps back into the saddle from a good draw of three. If getting away on terms, she can cause the upset.
FANTINE was touched off in her last start over 1600m on this course. The daughter of Hawwaam steps up to 2000m for the first time and if seeing out the extra distance on offer, she should be competitive.
QONDANEKUKHANYENI has decent recent form to her name. She stayed on when third over 1600m last time.
RACE 6
MERCANTOUR is the top bet on the programme. He is a winner of his last two starts, the latest of which was over 1400m on this course. The son of Var is unbeaten from three starts over this C&D. He won all three legs of the Nelson Mandela Bay Racing Poly Challenge last year and will be looking to defend his title.
CRUISE CONTROL was an easy winner of his last start over 1000m. He finished 0.1 lengths behind the top choice in his penultimate outing. The pair meet on the same weight terms and there should not be much separating them at the finish.
FAIRY KNIGHT finished 1.25 lengths behind the top selection last time. The pair meet on the same weight terms today and he may have to settle for the same result. He is drawn widest of all and with luck in running, he should be involved at the finish.
RACE 7
LADY BOMBER was given a peach of a ride when winning her last start over 1400m on this course. She received a three-pound penalty for that victory. The daughter of Lancaster Bomber won her only attempt over this C&D. She is in a good space and if not too far out of her ground turning for home, she can follow up.
NORTH STAR won a game race over 1200m on this course last time. She finished 0.1 lengths behind the top selection, three runs ago. The pair meet on the same weight terms today and there should not be much separating them at the finish.
IONA CASTLE ran on well when winning her last start over 1200m on this track. That was her first outing for the Dean Smith stable. She is back in Handicap Company and from pole position, she cannot be discounted.

POWEROFPEACE took her chances in the Listed Lady’s Slipper Stakes over 1400m on this course last time. Marchland has come out and won a Grade 2 in KwaZulu-Natal since. The second and third horses have also come out and won since. The daughter of Declarationofpeace returns from a 13-week break, during which time she would have strengthened up. If not in need of the run, she can go close.
