Race 1
ROCCO’S PEACE stayed on when third over 1400m at Hollywoodbets Scottsville last time. The son of Declarationofpeace is a progressive individual. He gets the services of 2.5kgs claiming Apprentice Anaas Mosaheb which will assist his cause. If not in need of the outing, he may find himself in the winner’s enclosure.
ROXBURY PARK is reserve runner 3 but has finished second in both his efforts to date. He lost a length leaving the start over this distance on the turf last time, but finished off his race strongly. If getting into the race, he should fight out the finish.
MEGHAN’S DIAMOND was outrun when second over this distance on the turf last time. She carries a handy galloping mass of 54.5kgs and if taking to the polytrack, she should be involved at the business end.
Race 2
PEACH MELBA is having her first outing for the Tony Rivalland stable. She jumped outwards leaving the start over this distance at Hollywoodbets Scottsville last time, but stayed on to finish third. It must be noted that the horse that finished second that day has come out and won since. If getting away on terms, she can shed her maiden tag.
PENNYS CHOICE has improved since joining the Mike and Mathew de Kock yard. The daughter of Vercingetorix may enjoy racing on this surface. Should the top choice fluff her lines, she may be the one to pick up the pieces.
PINK BLOSSOM returns from a 14-week break and is having her first run for Trainer Kelly Mitchley. The daughter of Declarationofpeace is lightly raced and there is plenty of room for improvement. She carries a handy galloping mass of 53kgs and can finish in the placings.
Race 3
MVELELO stayed on when sixth over this distance on the turf last time. He finished 1.65 lengths behind ZAGREB that day. He is 3.5kgs better off at the weights this evening which may be enough to turn the form around. The son of What A Winter returns to his favourite surface. With a bit of luck in running, he can surprise.
ZAGREB won his last start over this C&D easier than the official margin suggests. It must be noted that the horse that finished second that day has come out and won since. He is in a good space and merits healthy respect.
PLAZA ACCORD finished 3.4 lengths behind the second selection last time. He is 3kgs better off at the weights and should finish closer as a result. The 6yo gelding will strip a much fitter horse.
Race 4
ST HARRY was not disgraced when sixth in the Grade 2 World Pool Bet With Tote Umkhomazi Stakes. He was reported to have choked up that day. The son of Harry Angel returns from a 12-week break, during which time he would have freshened up. He won on debut over this distance and with luck in running, he may be the one to beat.
UMZINGELI WENYATHI had excuses in the Listed Betway Spring Spree Stakes last time. He drops back to 1000m and the blinkers are re-fitted. He is likely to race on the speed from pole position and may be hard to peg back.
BLAZING FURY stayed on when fourth over this distance at Hollywoodbets Scottsville last time. He has won twice and finished second twice from as many starts over this C&D. Apprentice Qiniso Ngcobo takes the 4kgs off which will assist his cause.
Race 5
ANGEL’S OASIS was not disgraced when fourth against males and stronger company over this distance on the turf last time. She should have finished closer as she flyjumped leaving the start and hung inwards in the straight. The daughter of Querari drops in class and if getting away on terms, she can notch up her third-career victory.
YOUR LADYSHIP is a winner of her last two starts, the latest of which was over this C&D. The daughter of Mambo In Seattle is in a good space and can notch up the hat- trick.
LITTLEBLACKGEM finished 1.45 lengths behind the second selection last time. She is 1kg better off at the weights this evening and should finish closer as a result.
Race 6
RAGNAR THE KING‘S last three starts have been decent. He set the pace over 1800m on this course last time, but found one too good in the form of Vencedor. The son of Danon Platina meets the right field and from pole position, he can return to winning ways.
I AM CLASSY finished 0.4 lengths behind the top choice last time. The pair meet on the same weight terms this evening and there should not be much separating them at the finish.
THAT’S A GIMME was given a peach of a ride when winning her last start over this distance at Hollywoodbets Scottsville. The daughter of Gimmethegreenlight takes on stronger, but she has plenty of scope and carries a handy galloping mass. From her good draw of three, she should have a say in the outcome of this contest.
Race 7
COGNAC has shown good signs of a form return in his last two starts. He raced from a handy position over this distance at Hollywoodbets Scottsville last time and stayed on to finish third. It must be noted that the horse that finished second that day has come out and won since. He is having his first run on this surface and if suited, he can return to winning ways.
FIRE ‘N FLAMES hails from the visiting Kobus Roux stable. He set the pace over 1500m at the Vaal last time and stayed on to finish third. The son of Fire Away has met stronger previously and is one of the leading contenders.
IMPOSING has finished third in his last two starts, the latest of which was over this distance on the turf. He has won twice from six starts over this C&D. The 7yo gelding has cracked pole position and with the weight off the back, he should produce another honest performance.
Race 8
SPIRIT OF SHIMLA finished 0.5 lengths behind RED CORAL last time. She is 3kgs better off at the weights this evening which is enough to turn the form around. She has won once, finished second twice and third twice from six starts over this distance. Apprentice Dezahn Louw is likely to use her early gate speed to overcome the awkward draw and she may be hard to peg back.
TREASURE ISLAND finished 2.8 lengths behind RED CORAL in the race referred to above. She is 3kgs better off at the weights and there should not be much separating them at the finish.
RED CORAL dead-heated when winning her last start over 1600m on this course. She won her penultimate outing over this C&D. The daughter of Rafeef is in a good space and can notch up the hat-trick
