Winning Form selections for racing from Turffontein on Saturday 1st August where there are huge prizes available in the free to enter @Hollywoodbets Punters Challenge
Race 1
WITHOUT REMORSE lacked extra when third over 1200m on the Inside course last time. It must be noted that the horse that finished second that day has come out and won since. Calvin Habib is booked to ride and he may be able to coax that little bit extra out of her where it matters most.
PURPLE RAIN was running on when second over 1450m on the Inside course last time. The drop to 1160m is a slight concern, but she is in a good space and cannot be discounted.
JACK‘S LEGACY took time to find her feet on debut, but stayed on to finish second. The daughter of Buffalo Bill Cody would have gained from the experience and with the natural improvement that is expected, she may be the one to beat.
Race 2
SHERLOCK HOLMES is better than his last start in the Grade 3 TAB Protea Stakes as he was reported to be fatigued. The son of What A Winter returns from a 14-week break, during which time he was gelded. He finished second over this C&D, three runs ago. He is a horse with scope and if fit, he may find himself in the winner’s enclosure.
TROMPE L’OEIL got the upper hand late when victorious on debut over 1000m at the Vaal. The son of Gimmethegreenlight would have gained from the experience and could be anything.
ONE TIGER was touched off in his last start over this C&D. Blaine Marx-Jacobson steps back into the saddle and the combination cannot be discounted.
Race 3
MRS STORMIATRIX showed a good turn of foot when winning her last start over this distance on the Inside course. She would have come on from the outing and she is in a good space. She runs well for Calvin Habib and the combination may find themselves in the winner’s enclosure.
PIVOTAL ROLE returns from a 16-week break which would have done him the world of good. He won his penultimate outing over this distance on the Vaal Classic course. The son of Hawwaam is likely to race on the speed and may be hard to peg back.
LONELY AS A CLOUD stayed on when third over this distance on the Vaal Classic course last time. It must be noted that Ready Set Fire has come out and won again since. He carries a light mass and must be considered.
Race 4
ALMOND SEA stayed on when third over 1100m on this course last time. She returns from an 11-week break and would have freshened up. She has won twice, finished second once and third twice from six starts over this C&D. The blinkers are fitted and on best form shown, she should be the one to beat.
WHISTLE THE TUNE is better than her last start in the Grade 1 Ridgemont Garden Province Stakes. She has won once and finished second once from three starts over this C&D. She runs well for Calvin Habib and should pose a massive threat.
MOUNT PINATUBO finished 2 lengths behind AFRICAN PRIDE last time. He is 5kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough to turn the form around.
Race 5
DUAL PROPHECY finished 1.75 lengths behind GUERILLA WARFARE last time. He is 2kgs better off at the weights and there should not be much separating the pair at the finish. He is having his peak run and with Callan Murray retaining the ride, he may be the one to beat.
GUERILLA WARFARE kept finding to win his last start over this C&D. He received a three-pound penalty for that victory. He is in a good space and merits healthy respect.
CULTURATI ran a fair race over 1800m on the Vaal Classic course last time. He returns from a 10-week break. Gavin Lerena steps back into the saddle and on best form shown, he cannot be discounted.
Race 6
MISSION TO MARS was super-impressive when winning his maiden over 1600m on this course last time. The son of Sea The Stars will love the rise to 2000m. He looks to be loaded with ability and can follow up with another victory.
THE PLAYBOY BOMBER lacked extra late over 1800m last time. He has won twice and finished second once from as many starts over this distance. Apprentice Jacey Botes takes the 2.5kgs off his back which may assist his cause.
ROYAL EDITION is better than his last start in the Grade 3 Magical Zulu Kingdom Campanajo 2200. He finished 0.1 lengths behind the second selection in his penultimate outing. He is 1.5kgs worse off at the weights today and may have to settle for the same result.
Race 7
HARUN AL RASHID finished 0.9 lengths behind SKY PILOT last time. He is 2kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough to turn the form around. He would have come on from the outing and should strip much fitter. If keeping on a straight line, he may be the one to beat.
AFTER HOURS finished 1.15 lengths behind SKY PILOT in the race referred to above. He is 2kgs better off at the weights and there should not be much separating the pair at the finish.
SKY PILOT found extra to win his last start over this C&D. He received a three-pound penalty for that victory. Gavin Lerena is likely to adopt the same tactics from Barrier Two and the combination may be hard to peg back.
Race 8
RISING EAGLE made the expected natural improvement when winning his maiden over 1160m with ease. He showed speed, found extra and won with a ton in hand. It must be noted that the horse that finished fourth that day has come out and won since. The son of Vercingetorix takes on stronger, but he looks to have class about him and may be up to the task at hand.
SPIRIT OF GABZ found one too good in the form of Gotthetiger last time. He has cracked a good draw of four and may be the one to fill the exacta spot.
SOUTHAMPTON rallied late when second over 1450m on the Vaal Classic course last time. She finished third in her only C&D attempt. The booking of Gavin Lerena is a big plus and she must be considered
