He was green in running, but the manner in which he stayed on at the finish suggests that he will love the rise to 1600m. With the natural improvement that is expected, he should take a power of beating.
KNIGHT HEIST was in need of his debut effort over 1160m on the Standside course. He would have come on from the outing and should appreciate the step up to 1600m. If not too green around the turn, he can complete the exacta.
EXPERT WITNESS ran a fair race on debut over 1000m on the Vaal Classic course. He returns from an 11-week break, during which time he would have strengthened up. If not in need of the run, he can finish in the placings.
Race 2
FEAST OF BERRIES produced a promising debut effort over 1160m on the Standside course. She was green in running, but the manner in which she stayed on at the finish was encouraging. She would have gained from the experience and should love the rise to 1600m. With the natural improvement that is expected, she may find herself in the winner’s enclosure.
FREESTYLE DANCE found one too good in the form of Secret Fate on debut. She will enjoy the extra furlong on offer and with the natural improvement that is expected, she should pose a threat.
FOREST ACT finished 5.25 lengths behind the second choice on debut. She would have come on from the run and can improve to finish in the placings.
Race 3
DOCTOR STRANGELOVE is one of the better bets on the card. He has finished third in both his efforts to date. He has plenty of scope and should love the rise to 2000m. He meets the right field and can shed his maiden tag.
SAPPHIRE SUN ran a fair race over 1600m on the Standside course last time. She steps up to 2000m and if seeing out the extra distance on offer, she can show. She is carded to race on 04 June 2026 and her progress in that race will need to be monitored.
EVENING NEWS finished 0.2 lengths behind the second selection last time. He is 0.5kgs worse off at the weights today and there should not be much separating them at the finish.
Race 4
INTO DANCING won a good race over 1600m on the Vaal Classic course last time. She was given a three- pound penalty for that victory. She has finished second once and third once from as many starts over this distance. If switching off early, she can follow up with another victory.
FUTURE GAMBLE is a winner of her last three starts. She showed a good turn of foot and drew clear with ease last time. She takes another rise in class but with luck in running, she can win again.
BAKWENA was not beaten far in the Listed East Coast Cup last time. It must be noted that the horse that finished third that day has come out and won since. On best form shown, she should have a say.
Race 5
APOSTROPHE has finished third in her last two starts, the latest of which was over 1800m on the Vaal Classic course. She raced from a handy position last time and rallied late. She has dropped to a competitive rating and can return to winning ways.
FALCONFLY showed signs of needing her last start over 1600m at the Vaal. She would have come on from the outing and should strip much fitter. On the form of her penultimate outing, she should be competitive.
PLAY WITH FIRE is better than her last start over 2400m. She drops back in distance and if putting her best foot forward, she should have a say in the outcome of this contest.
Race 6
DAME OF TRIX was not beaten far in the Listed In Full Flight Handicap last time. Her form in the Western Cape prior to that outing was consistent. She has won four times, finished second once and third once from seven starts over this distance. If taking to this course, she can notch up her fifth- career victory.
JUST THE TWO OF US has good recent form to her name. She finished 1.05 lengths behind VERSACE ONTHETRACK in her penultimate run. She is 1kg better off at the weights and there should not be much separating them at the finish.
ANCHORAGE finished 1 length behind the second choice last time. She is 0.5kgs better off at the weights and should finish closer as a result.
Race 7
JAZZ PIANIST’S last three starts have been decent. She raced from a prominent position last time and stayed on to finish third. Serino Moodley retains the ride and she can notch up her second-career victory.
BLINDFIRE ran a fair race over this distance on the Vaal Classic course last time. She finished 0.8 lengths behind the top choice in her penultimate run. She is 0.5kgs better off at the weights and should finish closer as a result.
TEMPRANILLO returns from a 19-week break, during which time she would have strengthened up. She won her only attempt over this C&D. If not in need of the run, she should be competitive.
Race 8
RINGA RINGA ROSES has good consistent form to her name. She raced from a handy position over 1600m last time and stayed on to finish third. She has won twice and finished third once from four starts over this C&D. With a bit of luck in running, she can return to winning ways.
PRINCESS KEIRA showed good signs of a form return over 1600m on the Vaal Classic course last time. She takes a drop in class and if confirming her recent improvement, she should pose a threat.
PRINCESS ILARIA stayed on when fourth over 1600m at the Vaal last time. She has won once and finished third four times from nine starts over this C&D. From pole position, she can earn another cheque.
Race 9
LONGSWORD challenged strongly over 1400m at the Vaal last time, but found one too good in the form of Bristol Hercules. He takes a drop back in class and with luck in running, he may find himself in the winner’s enclosure.
ELUSIVE RED finished 1.25 lengths behind the top selection last time. The pair meet on the same weight terms today and he may have to settle for the same result.
TRACKSUIT DAVE stayed on when third over 1700m at the Vaal last time. He won his maiden on this course with ease. The son of Fire Away has plenty of scope and cannot be discounted
