Betting update

Posted 20 Sep 09h31

What a start to the weekend, Canada were brilliant landing the 15/10 for us without raising the heartbeat.

I thought England were unbeatable but now I am not so sure.

England continue to firm and there is -23.5 on offer and points is stable at 50.5. Some showers are expected.

-19.5 England is no more

Posted 16 Sep 08h02

I think it was a case of being awake and online at the right time last night and when I woke up this morning the -19.5 England had disappeared and -22.5 is on offer.

I suspect this run still has 2 or 3 points to go

No change to the New Zealand v Canada handicap.

BET: France v England

Posted 15 Sep 23h57

5 units England -19.5 at 0.92/1 at Betxchange

England are currently -19.5 on the handicap against a French side hit hard by suspensions. Second-row Manae Feleu and loose forward Axelle Berthoumieu are both banned, the latter serving an effective six-month suspension for biting. While appeals are pending, it is hard to see either being cleared to play.

England have swept all before them, conceding just 7 points against the USA and 7 against Australia, before easing past Scotland in the quarter-finals. The -19.5 line looks generous, especially given France’s disruptions. They did only lose by a single point to England in the Six Nations, but this looks a very different scenario and I expect England to dominate.

I predict this line will start in the mid 20's and the -19.5 is my biggest bet of the tournament so far.

BET: New Zealand v Canada

2 units Canada win at 15/10 at WSB

New Zealand are narrow favourites against Canada, but of the pair it is the Canadians who have impressed me more. They had no problems brushing aside Scotland and Wales in the pool stages, but it was their 46–5 demolition of Australia in the quarter-finals that really caught my eye.

The Black Ferns have been growing into the tournament and are always dangerous, but they were tested early by both Ireland and South Africa before pulling away late. Based on what I have seen so far, I think Canada should be favourites here.

WRWC Quarter-Finals – Bets Recap

BET: ENGLAND v SCOTLAND
3 units Scotland under 7.5 points at Hollywoodbets ❌ LOSER

England’s defence once again proved rock solid and although Scotland picked up an early 3 pointer this bet never looked in danger. In the last 3 minutes the ref played a ridiculously short advantage for an England scrum penalty and somehow Scotland worked their way up field to score to lose 40-8. It took the gloss off the weekend but I had a much bigger decision go my way in the Rugby Championship and as punters these things tend to even out over time.

BET: FRANCE v IRELAND
3 units Ireland under 13.5 points at 17/20 at Pokerbet ✅ WINNER

Ireland led 13-0 at half time and I thought this bet was done, even knowing they were playing into a strong wind in the 2nd half. They failed to add to their score and lost 18-13 and the bet snuck in.

BET: CANADA v AUSTRALIA
3 units Australia +27.5 at 0.86/1 at Betxchange ❌ LOSER

Canada blew Australia away 46–5, covering the big handicap with ease. Despite early optimism, the Wallaroos couldn’t match Canada’s pace and power and this was the clear miss of the round.

BET: NEW ZEALAND v SOUTH AFRICA
3 units over 52.5 points at 9/10 at WSB ✅ WINNER

The Black Ferns finished with a 46–17 victory, and the overs arrived reasonably comfortably after looking in big trouble at 10-10 at the break. South Africa gave a spirited showing early, but New Zealand’s attack was relentless and thy cut loose at the start of the 2nd half.

Semi-Finals Lineup

Friday 19 September – Ashton Gate, Bristol

New Zealand v Canada

Both sides were dominant in the quarter-finals, with the Black Ferns overwhelming South Africa and Canada dismantling Australia. This should be the tightest of the semi-finals, as Canada have the forward power to trouble New Zealand, but the Black Ferns’ backline finishing is lethal.

I saw a handicap of -2.5 New Zealand earlier but the bookie has taken it down.

Saturday 20 September – Ashton Gate, Bristol

England v FranceEngland once again underlined their credentials with a comfortable win over Scotland, while France battled past Ireland in tricky conditions. England’s defence is smothering, and they’ll start strong favourites.

Pokerbet have a handicap of +19.5 France
