BET: ITALY v BRAZIL

Posted 7 Sep 13h58

2 units Italy -57.5 at 9/10 at Pokerbet

I have come down on the side of Italy finishing strong

BET: NEW ZEALAND v IRELAND
Posted 07 Sep 12h00
2 units New Zealand -13.5 1st half handicap 17/20 at Hollywoodbets

This handicap has been stable all week at -28.5.
The winner of the game finishes in top spot and the loser will also progress to the quarters.
Ireland famously beat the Black Ferns last year but a repeat seems unlikely.
The points line is 54.5 and there is some showers forecast.
I will keep an eye on conditions and look out for a New Zealand points or try market but for now am backing them to get off to a fast start.

FRANCE v SOUTH AFRICA
Posted 07 Sep 09h50
My money is already down on the -21.5 France which is now -25.5
The points line is 54.5 and there is the chance of rain and some wind.
It is unlikely I will get further involved but expect a big win for the French and for points punters keep an eye on the Japan game for conditions.

ITALY v BRAZIL
Posted 07 Sep 09h47
The handicap is -59.5 and I would think that a motivated Italy will cover it. The question is how motivated they will be knowing their tournament ends today?
Points is 71.5 and there is a chance of showers.
I am going to hold fire and while I may sit this out if I bet I will post it once I have a handle on conditions.

BET: JAPAN v SPAIN
Posted 07 Sep 09h30
2 units over 7.5 tries at 17/20 at Sportingbet

This should be as close a match as the betting suggests with Japan currently -3.5.
The points line is 51.5 and conditions are expected to be overcast but dry with rain forceast to start after the game. The temperature should be early to mid 20's.
Both of these teams have proven capable of scoring tries against stronger opposition and I think overs could be the playe here.
I would be surprised if we get 3 pointers taken unless they are absolute gifts and to land over 51.5 we would need 8 tries with 6 converted.
For this reason I prefer the over 7.5 tries to take the conversions out of play.

BET: ENGLAND v AUSTRALIA
Posted 06 Sep 15h38
2 units Australia +47.5 at 17/20 at Sportingbet
This handicap is -46.5 and has been stable.
Australia will know what they to do do come kickoff and it may just be that beating the handicap will see them through.
England have the edge upfront but I agree with Southpaw in the forum that Australia can score a few.Conditions look cloudy but dry with temp around 20 degrees.
Unfortunately I cannot find an Australia overs line so will go with the handicap.

BET: WALES v FIJI
Posted 6 Sep 12h40
1 unit Fiji win at 19/10 at Hollywoodbets
This handicap came in from -9.5 to -5.5 Wales and it is currently around -6.5.
A tight contest is expected and points are 48.5 with conditions likely to be cloudy but dry.
I won't be watching this one too closely so just a small bet on the upset for me as I think Fiji can win this after weathering an early storm.

BET: CANADA V SCOTLAND

Posted 06 Sep 11h19

2 units Canada -13.5 ht handicap at 17/20 at Pokerbet

I wasn't going to get involved here but plan to watch the 1st half on the gym treadmill (walking not running) and I reckon Canada get the job done early.

I am not usually a half time handicap punter but will have a nibble.

BET: FRANCE V SOUTH AFRICA

Posted 05 Sep 14h14

4 units France -21.5 at 0.92/1 at Betxchange

This bet is early and follows a forum post from Southpaw

SA have named very much a 2nd string side and this handicap is likely to push out

BET: USA V SAMOA

Posted 05 Sep 11h03

3 units USA -56.5 at Pokerbet

The USA have a mountain to climb if they are to make the quarters. They need to hammer Samoa by as close to 100 as they can get and hope England beat Australia (keeping them under 4 tries) by enough to reverse a 135 points difference with the Aussies.

The handicap for this game has been stable at 58.5 (although some -56.5 on offer) and I think the minus is the play.

England beat Samoa by 89 points and the Aussies by 73 and given how little there is between USA and Australia and the fact that the USA will actively be chasing points all game I think they beat this handicap.

The weather looks cloudy but clear and the points line is 71.5.

MATCHDAY 3 HANDICAPS ARE UP

Posted 02 Sep 09:00

We have handicaps for this weekend and below are the caps at Betxchange with my comments

Canada -28.5 v Scotland – this is for top spot but both teams will be looking ahead to the quarters, team news important

USA -58.5 v Samoa – a lot will depend on the USA state of mind and team selection

Wales -9.5 v Fiji – the wooden spoon battle, early thoughts are Fiji could surprise

England -42.5 v Australia – that is a massive handicap, leaning Aus if both teams at full strength

Japan -3.5 v Spain – both teams out but will be up for this

Italy -60.5 v Brazil – Italy might give squad a run, Brazil are awful

New Zealand -28.5 v Ireland – this should be a good game for top spot

France -21.5 v South Africa – team news will be important

Women’s Rugby World Cup – Matchday 2 Recap & Matchday 3 Fixtures

Posted 01 Sep

Round 2 produced another set of one-sided results mixed with some drama – most notably the USA drawing with Australia. From a betting perspective, we finished on top but it could have been so much better if the USA had held on for the win.

POOL A

England 92–3 Samoa
We backed the under 97.5 points in this one for 3 units. It was a sweat with England running riot, but Samoa barely contributed and the total stayed just under. Absolute torture to watch and will rank as some of the hardest money I have ever made.
Bet: 3 units under 97.5 points

USA 31–31 Australia
We were very involved here:

  • 1 unit on USA win at 5/1

  • 3 units on Australia under 33.5 points

  • 3 units on USA +14.5

On a personal note, I pressed the USA at 15/2 in-play and gave some of the pre-match bets profit back with a late call to go under 49.5 points.

Pool B

Canada 42–0 Wales
We played Canada over 7.5 tries for 2 units. Despite dominating, they fell short of that mark as they stepped off the gas in the 2nd half.
Bet: 2 units over 7.5 tries

Scotland 29–15 Fiji
We took Fiji +34.5 for 2 units, and they delivered, staying well inside the number despite Scotland always looking in control.
Bet: 2 units Fiji +34.5

Pool C

Ireland 43–27 Spain
We tied this to a double with New Zealand. Ireland got the win but never looked close to covering -33.5.
Bet: Ireland -33.5 (part of double)

New Zealand 62–19 Japan
The Black Ferns failed to cover but fortunately our involvement on the Pool C games was a solidary unit and the double went down.
Bet: New Zealand -54.5 (part of losing double)
Overall bet: 1 unit double Ireland -33.5 / NZ -54.5

Pool D

Italy 24–29 South Africa
This was the bet we’d targeted since 2024 although hoped for a bigger price. We took South Africa +0.5 for 2 units and they delivered an historic win to reach the quarterfinals.
Bet: 2 units South Africa +0.5

France 84–5 Brazil
The line was France -77.5 and total points 85.5. With French squad rotation and Brazil being very weak, we leaned France -77.5 but officially sat out. In the end we would of won but only thanks to a Brazil missed conversion.
Bet: No bet
