RACE 1

HAPHAZARD produced a promising debut effort over 1300m on this course. She was slow into stride but stayed on to finish second. The daughter of Global View would have gained from the experience and with Richard Fourie in the saddle, she should be the horse to beat.

HOUSE OF SUSSEX should have finished closer to the winner last time as he hung inwards in the final 200m. It must be noted that the horse that finished third that day has come out and won since. If keeping on a straight line, he should be the first male past the post.

HAT MAN showed good improvement over 1000m on this course last time. Donald Geerthsen retains the ride and if confirming his recent improvement, he should earn a cheque.

RACE 2

OPERA VERSE has improved since arriving in the Eastern Cape. She raced from a handy position over 1200m on this course last time and stayed on to finish third. The daughter of Pomodoro should be ideally suited to this distance. She carries another handy galloping mass of 55kgs and can shed her maiden tag.

GREENLIGHT DANCER was a tad disappointing in her last start against male company. The daughter of Gimmethegreenlight has changed stables since that outing. She tries the tongue-tie for the first time and should the top choice fluff her lines, she may be the one to pick up the pieces.

ROYAL VENUS was unlucky in her last start as she clipped heels at the 750m mark. It must be noted that Ignitethelight has come out and won again since. With a bit of luck in running, she should have a say in the outcome of this contest.

RACE 3

HOME REEF is the best bet on the programme. He set the pace over 1400m on the turf last time and stayed on well to finish fourth. The son of Erupt should love the rise to 1900m. He jumps from a handy draw of five and if getting his own way in front, he should take a power of beating.

ORANJEMUND stayed on when third in his stable debut over 2000m on the turf. He would have come on from the run and should strip much fitter. He is drawn widest of all in barrier 12, but gets the services of Richard Fourie who will give him all the necessary assistance from the saddle.

TAKE YOUR TIME was unlucky not to have won her last start over 2000m on this course. She carries another light mass of 51.5kgs and with a bit of luck in running, she should give the males a run for their money.

RACE 4

This is a competitive Merit Rated 72 Handicap and caution is advised. The tentative first selection is PUERTO PLATA from the Alan Greeff stable. He finished 0.3 lengths behind HEAD GARDENER last time. He is 1kg better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. The 5yo gelding should be involved at the finish.

SLAINTE MHATH has good recent form lines to his credit. He finished 0.25 lengths behind HEAD GARDENER in the race referred to above. He is 0.5kgs better off at the weights today and there should not be much separating the pair at the finish.

SAN QUINTIN was outgunned in the Listed Betway Algoa Cup last time. If finding the form of his penultimate victory, he may be the one to cause the upset.

Race 5

JADE‘S CABERNEIGH raced from a handy position over 1200m last time, but found one too good in the form of No Greater Love. She has won twice from four starts over this C&D. With a bit of luck from the widest draw, she may find herself in the winner’s enclosure.

HAVANA GREY is better than her last start over 1200m on this course. She is having her peak run today and will be cherry-ripe. Should the top choice fluff her lines, she may be the one to pick up the pieces.

PROJECT RUNWAY stayed on when second over this distance on the turf last time. If getting away to a clean start, she should be right there at the finish.

Race 6

LUNA HALO was an easy winner over this C&D last time. She raced from a handy position, quickened up well and drew clear of the opposition. The daughter of Fire Away has plenty of class about her and she should follow up with another victory.

BUSH TRACKER ran a good race in the last leg of the Non-Black Type Nelson Mandela Bay Racing Poly Challenge. On best form shown, he should throw out a big challenge to the top choice.

BINGWA is having his first run for the Gavin Smith stable. The 7yo gelding is at his best over 1600m. This outing will bring him on for future races, but he has class and cannot be ignored.

RACE 7

RAIN BIRD showed good speed when winning her last start over 1200m on the turf. She received a two- pound penalty for that victory. The daughter of Act Of War won her maiden on this course with ease. Donald Geerthsen knows her extremely well and from her good draw of four, she should be hard to peg back.

FLOWER FESTIVAL lacked extra late over 1200m last time. She finished 0.25 lengths behind MARSHMALLOW in her penultimate run. She is 0.5kgs better off at the weights today and there should not be much separating the pair at the finish.

MARSHMALLOW fought hard when winning her last start over 1400m on this course. She received a four-pound penalty for that victory. Marco van Rensburg retains the ride and he should give her all the necessary assistance from her wide draw.

RACE 8

CALL TO GLORY followed up her maiden win with an equally impressive victory over this C&D. The daughter of Kingman returns from a well-deserved 19-week break. Richard Fourie is likely to use her early gate speed to get across from the widest draw and if fit, she can bring up the hat-trick.

SUN SPECTACULAR ran a good race when fourth over 1600m on the turf last time. She drops back in class and with a bit of luck in running, she may be the one to fill the exacta spot.

TREASURE HUNT is better than her last start as the jockey reported something to be amiss in running. On best form shown, she may be the one to cause the upset.

RACE 9

CRUZADOR finished 0.5 lengths behind LEGAL THRILLER last time. He is 1.5kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. He won his penultimate start over this C&D with ease. If getting away to a clean start, he should notch up his fifth-career victory.

LEGAL THRILLER got up late when winning his last start over 1200m on this course, in this Class. The wide draw is an obvious concern but he should get all the necessary assistance from the saddle with Richard Fourie aboard.

WILLIAM THE FIRST ran a fair race over 1400m on this course last time. He takes a drop in the ratings and can upset on best form shown
