Race 1

CLIFF SWALLOW’S last two starts have been good. He was running on when third over this C&D last time. The son of Canford Cliffs meets the right field today and he can shed his maiden tag with Luyolo Mxothwa back in the saddle.

MASTER BOMBER was doing his best work late when fifth over 1250m at Hollywoodbets Durbanville last time. It must be noted that the horse that finished fourth that day has come out and won since. He is having his first run on this course and if suited, he should pose a massive threat.

DORSET hails from the visiting Michael Roberts stable. He is better than his last start over 1160m at Turffontein. It must be noted that the horse that finished second that day has come out and won since. Rachel Venniker steps back into the saddle and improvement is expected.

Race 2

BEL CANTO DREAM made the expected natural improvement when fourth over 1200m at Hollywoodbets Kenilworth last time. The manner in which he finished off his race that day suggests that he will love the rise to 1400m. Richard Fourie steps into the saddle and he may be the one to beat.

VICTOR HUGO had excuses in his last start over 1600m on this course. His penultimate run when second over 1200m, catches the eye. The son of Danon Platina should be ideally suited to 1400m and he is one of the leading contenders.

GRAND ALLEGRO was a tad disappointing over 1250m at Hollywoodbets Durbanville last time. His penultimate run when second behind Arctic Wizard catches the eye. The son of Global View will enjoy the rise to 1400m and he can earn a cheque.

Race 3

BLIND AMBITION was running on when second over 1400m on this course last time. She was unlucky not to have won her penultimate run behind Tap Shoes. The daughter of Erupt will love the rise to 1600m and from her good draw of two, she should go one better.

SUPREME FATE showed good improvement when third over 1400m last time. The manner in which she finished off her race that day suggests that she will love the rise to the mile. She is a progressive type and merits healthy respect.

ENGLISH MISTRESS has good consistent form lines to her credit. She returns from a 10-week break, which may have done her the world of good. With a bit of luck from her wide barrier, she should have a say in the outcome of this contest.

Race 4

TENPENNY showed very good improvement when second over 1400m on this course last time. He should have finished closer to the winner that day as he was carried off a straight line at the 200m mark. The son of What A Winter is a progressive type and will love the rise to 1600m. From his good draw of three, he should take a power of beating.

TUNGUSKA finished 0.7 lengths behind the top selection last time. The pair meet on the same weight terms today and he may have to settle for the same result.

GRAN CANARIA has produced two good runs to date. He raced from a handy position over this distance last time, before getting outrun late by Native Ruler. The son of Vercingetorix jumps from pole position and he can go one better.

Race 5

This is an open looking Class 5 contest and caution is advised. The tentative first selection is ISCHYRO from the Lucinda Woodruff stable. He was running on when second over this distance last time. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. If not too far out of his ground turning for home, he should be involved at the finish.

OZARK stayed on after a slow start over 1600m on this course last time. It is encouraging that Richard Fourie keeps faith in the ride and he should feature.

WHAT A FORTUNE won his last start over this C&D easier than the official margin suggests. He meets a similar line-up this afternoon and despite top weight, he must be included in all bets.

Race 6

BECKY SHARP produced a typical second run after a rest last time. Her penultimate run when second over this C&D catches the eye. She finished 0.4 lengths behind WHY NOT JACKIE that day and is 1kg better off at the weights. That should be enough for the tables to be turned. If getting away to a clean start, she can return to winning ways in this line-up.

DECEMBER DAWN followed up her maiden win with an impressive victory over this C&D. The daughter of Master Of My Fate meets a similar line-up today and she can follow up with another victory.

WHY NOT JACKIE got up late when winning her last start over this C&D. She received a three-pound penalty for that victory. Ashton Arries retains the ride and the pair merit healthy respect.

Race 7

SHE’S MY CAPTAIN is better than her last start over this C&D, against stronger company. It must be noted that the horse that finished second that day has come out and won since. She returns to Class 4 Company and with Rachel Venniker taking the 1.5kgs off her back, she can return to winning ways.

FIRST MASTERPIECE stayed on when second over 1100m on this course last time. If jumping on terms, she should throw out a big challenge to the top choice.

BACK AT THE GEORGE produced an encouraging post maiden effort when second over this C&D. The daughter of What A Winter meets a similar line-up this afternoon and she must be included in all bets.

Race 8

BARNEY MCGREW raced from just off the pace over this C&D last time, but found one too good in the form of Kelp Forest. It must be noted that the horse that finished fourth that day has come out and won since. He has won four times, finished second five times and third three times from 19 starts over this C&D. He is drawn on the right side of the course and has a winning chance.

RAFA BAY’S last start is best ignored as the jockey was dislodged. He finished 1.9 lengths behind the top choice in his penultimate run. The pair meet on the same weight terms today and he may have to settle for the same result.

FURIOUS QUEEN was running on when second over this C&D last time. She is having her peak run today and will be cherry-ripe. Richard Fourie is booked to ride and she should give the males a run for their money.

Race 9

ELECTRIC FEELS challenged strongly in her last start over 1100m, but found one too good in the form of Rougarouin. She has won once, finished second three times and third once from ten starts over this distance. The daughter of William Longsword runs well for Mpumelelo Mjoka and the combination merit healthy respect.

TAMBOURINE MAN showed good speed over 1200m last time before getting outrun late. He finished 1.75 lengths behind the top selection in his penultimate run. The pair meet on the same weight terms today and he may have to settle for the same result.

GRAVITY is better than his last start over 1100m. If finding the form of his penultimate outing, he should have a say in the outcome of this contest
