Race 1 

PANNING SILVER produced a promising debut effort over 1000m on this course. She understandably raced green, but the manner in which she finished off her race was encouraging. The daughter of Danon Platina would have gained from the experience and should love the rise to 1450m. She jumps from pole position and with the natural improvement that is expected, she should be the one to beat.

BLIND AMBITION is having her first run for the Brett Webber stable. She was running on when second over 1600m at Hollywoodbets Kenilworth last time. If settled into her new surroundings, she should pose a threat.

GIMME A CALL has run two fair races to date. It must be noted that the horse that finished third in her last outing has come out and won since. She gets the tongue-tie fitted for the first time which may do the trick.

Race 2

CHERRY OH BABY moved up well in her last start over 1600m on the Standside course, but found one too good in the form of Gerbera who has come out and won again since. The drop to 1450m will be ideal and she should give the males a run for their money.

SATYAGRAHA has produced two good runs to date. He was running on when third over 1160m on the Standside course last time. He will strip a much fitter horse and is one of the leading contenders.

CHIEFTAIN’S SHIELD raced wide around the turn over 1600m last time, but stayed on to finish fifth. Ryan Munger is booked to ride and he may be able to coax that little bit extra out of him where it matters most. He is carded to race on 23 February 2025 and his progress in that race will need to be monitored

Race 3

HUEHUETENANGO showed very good improvement in his last start over 1600m on the Standside course. He lost two lengths leaving the start, but the manner in which he finished off his race was eye-catching. Muzi Yeni is likely to switch him off near the rear of the field once again and he can go close.

SPIRITO SELVAGGIO finished 3.1 lengths behind the top choice last time. The pair meet on the same weight terms today and he may have to settle for the same result.

GIFT OF ROYAL was running on too late when second over 1600m last time. The son of Royal Mo should have no issues with the rise to 2000m and he can place.

Race 4

DOITWITHDIAMONDS ran on strongly when second over 1600m on the Standside course last time. She has won twice and finished second twice from five starts on this course. She is back against her own sex and with Gavin Lerena in the saddle, she can notch up her fourth-career victory.

ONE RELIGION has good recent form lines to her credit. She has won twice and finished third once from five starts on this course. She runs well for Diego De Gouveia and merits healthy respect.

AVOONTOAST ran a good race when second over 1600m on the Vaal Classic course last time. Ryan Munger is booked to ride and he may be able to get the best out of her.

 

 

Race 5

IDEAL FUTURE stayed on when fourth over this distance on the Vaal Classic course last time. The daughter of Futura takes a drop in class and with Ryan Munger in the saddle, she can notch up her sixth-career victory.

SNEAK PREVIEW has not finished too far off the winner in recent outings. She stayed on at the finish over 1600m last time, but found one too good in the form of Secret Recipe. Should the top choice fluff her lines, she may be the one to pick up the pieces.

STREISAND finished 0.25 lengths behind PARTY PUNCH last time. She is 0.5kgs better off at the weights today and there should not be much separating the pair at the finish.

Race 6

TOWERS OF GOLD is better than his last start over this distance on the Standside course. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. He has won once and finished third twice from as many starts on this course. The son of Gimmethegreenlight drops back in class and he should be the one to beat.

ON TARGET stayed on when second over this distance on the Standside course last time. The son of Lancaster Bomber drops back in class and from pole position, he should pose a massive threat.

ONE MORE STAR followed up his maiden win with a good second-place finish over 2000m on the Vaal Classic course. He set the pace before getting caught late by Silvano’s Song. He takes on stronger, but has scope and should be up to the task at hand.

Race 7

This is a competitive Merit Rated 97 Handicap and caution is advised. The tentative first selection is KING’S EXPRESS from the Fabian Habib stable. He showed some signs of needing his comeback run over 2000m last time. It must be noted that Tamarisk Tree has come out and won again since. He will strip a much fitter horse and with luck in running, he may be the one to beat.

TOTAL SURRENDER ran a good race when third over 2000m on the Standside course last time. He has won twice and finished second once from four starts over this distance. With a bit of luck in running, he can go close.

TWO MILES WEST won a good race in his last start over 1600m on the Standside course. He steps back up in class, but is in a good space and should be up to the task at hand.

Race 8

KUDZU has finished second in his last four starts. He stayed on over this distance on the Standside course last time. It must be noted that Spumante Dolce has come out and won again since. He has won once and finished second twice from four starts on this course. Muzi Yeni is booked to ride and he may be able to get the best out of him.

SALUTE THE FLAG ran on strongly when winning his last start over 1400m on the Standside course. He received a three-pound penalty for that victory. He jumps from pole position and can follow up.

WILLOW EXPRESS stayed on when fourth over this distance on the Standside course last time. Three of his seven career victories have come on this course. He is drawn awkwardly in barrier nine but he will get all the necessary assistance from Piere Strydom.

Race 9

BOOM BOOM challenged strongly when third over this C&D last time. The daughter of Erupt meets a similar line-up this afternoon and she can return to winning ways.

MIGHTY GODDESS finished 0.5 lengths behind the top choice last time. The pair meet on the same weight terms today and there should not be much separating them at the finish. She will strip much fitter and is one of the leading contenders.

QUANTUM stayed on when fourth against the males over this distance on the Vaal Classic course last time. Two of her four career victories have come over this C&D. She is back against her own sex and with luck in running, she would not be a shock winner.

Race 10

KOTINOS finished 1.25 lengths behind AFTER HOURS last time. He is 1.5kgs better off at the weights today and there should not be much separating the pair at the finish. He has won once, finished second once and third twice from five starts over this C&D. If keeping on a straight line, he can return to winning ways.

AFTER HOURS won a game race in his last start over this C&D. He received a three-pound penalty for that victory. Muzi Yeni retains the ride and the combination merit healthy respect.

OH MY GUCCI GIRL ran on powerfully when winning her last start over this distance on the Vaal Classic course. She would have come on from the run and can follow up with another victory
