The Bulls strengthened their hand in the play off places when they beat the Lions 31-19 at Loftus in last weeks sole URC match. They covered a minus handicap of around 8.5 points and picked up a bonus point with the try count ending 5-3 in their favour.
In earlier SA derby matches two head to heads Sharks saw them go down 29-19 at Loftus and 20-17 in Durban. The Bulls edged out the Stormers 33-32 in Cape Town and they also beat the Lions 35-22 in Johannesburg.
The Bulls have played 11 matches so far and they remain in third place with 40 log points now just 2 points behind Glasgow but still 12 shy of Leinster and the top 3 have all played 11 matches. They Bulls won 8 and lost 3 overall and in the outright betting to win the URC title they are 11/2 second favourites with WSB.
Stormers:
Whilst the Bulls are on course for the play offs the Stormers are really battling. In their most recent outing away to the Lions on the 15th February they went down 30-23.
In earlier SA derby matches the Stormers lost to the Sharks in Durban (21-15), they beat the Lions in Cape Town (29-10) and they won the return with the Sharks in Cape Town (24-20). In another home fixture the Stormers were edged out 33-32 by the Bulls.
The Stormers record of 4 wins and 7 defeats for 24 log points sees them in tenth place, 3 points shy of a play off spot but they no longer have a game in hand on the European sides.
In the outright betting to win the URC title the Stormers are 33/1 shots with WSB.
