Winning Form selections for @Hollywoodbets Greyville on Wednesday 29th January where there are huge prizes available in the free to enter Punters Challenge
Race 1
ROY’S GRACE fought hard over 1400m on the turf last time, but was touched off by Zalta Star. The obvious concern is the widest draw of 12 but she is the form horse in the race. With a bit of luck in running, she may find herself in the winner’s enclosure.
SHESAROCKET is having her first run for Stuart Ferrie. It must be noted that the horse that finished second in her last outing has come out and won since. She has scope and if suited to the polytrack, she should have good improvement to come.
TAKE NOTE ran a fair race over this distance on the turf last time. She would have come on from the run and should strip much fitter. If Deryl Daniels can switch her off early, she should have a say in the outcome of this contest.
Race 2
TREND MAKER was his own worst enemy over 1400m last time as he over raced in the early stages. His debut effort when second over this distance on the turf was encouraging. The son of Potala Palace has ability and if taking to the polytrack, he may be the one to beat from pole position.
ONE ARMED BANDIT showed good speed over this distance at Hollywoodbets Scottsville last time before getting outrun late. The blinkers seem to have done the trick. Deryl Daniels is likely to adopt the same tactics and he may be hard to peg back.
RIVER DANCE has fair recent form lines to his credit. With a bit of luck in running, he can earn another cheque for his patrons.
Race 3
GORGEOUS DUDE showed good signs of a form return over this distance on the turf last time. The tongue- tie seems to have done the trick on the son of Pomodoro. His maiden victory came on this course and if confirming his recent improvement, he may be the one to beat.
PURPLE POWAHOUSE is a stable companion of the top choice. He has finished second twice and third three times from seven starts over this C&D. If not in need of the run, he should be involved in the fight to the finish.
TEEREX stayed on when fifth over 1200m at Hollywoodbets Scottsville last time. He finished second in his only attempt over this C&D. If keeping on a straight line, he may be the one to spoil the Alyson Wright party.
Race 4
WHITE SEAHORSE stayed on at the finish over this distance at Hollywoodbets Kenilworth last time. He is having his first run in KZN and is back in Maiden Company. If settled into his new surroundings, he should find himself in the winner’s enclosure.
EL CAPITAN found one too good in the form of Magma Magic last time. The son of Rafeef tries the 1800m for the first time and if switching off early, he should throw out a big challenge to the top choice.
FREDDY SLATER is better than his last two starts suggest. He returns from a 12-week break, during which time he was gelded. If taking to the polytrack, he would not be a shock winner.
Race 5
MOCHA BLEND was an easy winner of her last start over 1950m at Hollywoodbets Scottsville. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. The daughter of Ideal World takes on stronger, but she has a lot of class about her. She is drawn awkwardly in barrier nine, but gets the services of Gavin Lerena who will give her all the necessary assistance from the saddle.
QUEEN AMINA followed up her maiden victory with a good second-place finish over 1900m on the turf. If taking to the polytrack, she may be the one to fill the exacta spot.
SASCHA’S DREAM stayed on when second over 1950m at Hollywoodbets Scottsville last time. She has won once and finished third once from as many starts on this course. She jumps from a good draw of two and cannot be ignored.
Race 6
QUENTASIA finished 1 length behind MAMAS BABY last time. She is 2kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. She won her maiden on this course. The daughter of Querari has dropped to a competitive rating and she may be the one to beat.
MAMAS BABY set the pace over this distance on the turf last time, before getting outrun late. She would have come on from the run and should strip much fitter. The daughter of Rafeef merits healthy respect.
DRIVE BY finished 1.7 lengths behind the second selection last time. The pair meet on the same weight terms today and she may have to settle for the same result.
Race 7
VOLDEMORT stayed on when fourth over 1400m at Hollywoodbets Scottsville last time. He has finished second twice and third twice from five starts over this C&D. The 6yo gelding drops back in class and he can return to winning ways.
HIPPOCRATES has consistent form lines to his credit. He has won four times, finished second twice and third twice from 13 starts over this C&D. Should the top choice fluff his lines, he may be the one to pick up the pieces.
HOPE IS POWER won a game race in his last start over 1100m at Hollywoodbets Scottsville. He has won twice and finished third once from six starts over this C&D. His big mass of 64kgs is a concern, but he is in a good space and cannot be ignored.
Race 8
BRASS BELL was slow into stride over this distance on the turf last time, but stayed on nicely at the finish. Two of his seven career victories have come over this C&D. The 8yo gelding is likely to race from off the speed and will be mowing down the frontrunners.
LAKE COMO stayed on when second over this distance on the turf last time. Rachel Venniker takes the 1.5kgs off his back which should assist his cause. With a bit of luck in running, he should be involved at the finish.
PORFIRIO has not finished too far off the winner in recent outings. Three of his four career victories have come over this distance. Muzi Yeni is booked to ride and he may be able to coax that little bit extra out of him where it matters most
