Race 1 

RED LEGEND challenged strongly in his last start over this distance but was touched off by Captain Jim. He finished third in his only attempt on this course. He jumps from a good draw of two and in this field, he can go one better.

HAT TRICK OR TREAT raced from a handy position over 1400m last time but found one too good in the form of Skittles Skies. The son of Hat Puntano is a progressive type and may be the one to fill the exacta spot.

GOLD DE GRACE ran a fair race over 1800m on the Turffontein Inside course last time. Raymond Danielson is booked to ride and he may be able to coax that little bit extra out of him where it matters most.

Race 2

FUTURE DATE showed some improvement in her last start with the tongue-tie fitted. The manner in which she finished off her race that day suggests that she will love the rise to the mile. Muzi Yeni takes the ride and in this line-up, it would be no surprise to see her in the winner’s enclosure.

AMBITIOUS LADY’S last two starts have been fair. She drops to the mile and with luck from the widest draw, she should have a say in the outcome of this contest.

PASS THE BATON ran a moderate race when fifth over this distance on the Turffontein Inside course last time. It is encouraging that S’manga Khumalo retains the ride and she can finish in the placings.

Race 3

ANNEWITHAN E has shown good signs of a form return in her last two starts. She was running on when second over this distance last time. Gavin Lerena retains the ride and if keeping on a straight line, she may be the one to beat.

SOLO DIVA raced from a handy position over this distance last time before getting outrun late. Should the top choice fluff her lines, she may be the one to pick up the pieces. She is carded to race on 12 September 2024 and her progress in that race will need to be monitored.

FREE IN SEATTLE finished 2.75 lengths behind the top selection last time. She is 0.5kgs better off at the weights today which is not enough for the tables to be turned.

Race 4

CALLABURN stayed on at the finish over this distance on the Turffontein Inside course last time, but found one too good in the form of Eiger Sanction. He has finished second twice and third once from four starts over this distance. If getting away to a clean start, he is capable of winning a race of this nature.

FLAG BEARER finished 0.5 lengths behind the top selection last time. The pair meet on the same weight terms today and there should not be much separating them at the finish.

FULL GO is better than his last start. Two of his three career victories have come on this course. Muzi Yeni takes the ride and if putting his best foot forward, he should be competitive.

Race 5

IDEAL FUTURE took the lead at the 400m mark last time but was caught in the shadow of the post by Damova. She has won twice and finished second once from six starts over this C&D. If finding the form of her penultimate run, she should notch up her fifth-career victory.

ANGEL’S WISH finished 2.9 lengths behind the top selection last time. She is only 0.5kgs better off at the weights today which is not enough for the tables to be turned.

PLAY WITH FIRE should have finished closer to the winner last time as she hung in the closing stages. She gets the services of a 4kgs claiming apprentice which should assist her cause. If keeping on a straight line, she should be involved in the fight to the finish.

Race 6

FAST DUTY stayed on when fifth over this distance on the Turffontein Inside course last time. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. He takes a drop in class and jumps from a good draw of four. Gavin Lerena may be able to coax that little bit extra out of him where it matters most.

WRITTEN IN STONE won a good race in his last start over 1200m. The 9yo gelding has won over this distance previously. He is carded to race on 12 September 2024 and his progress in that race will need to be monitored.

SOUTHERN STYLE finished 3.6 lengths behind the second selection last time. She is 3kgs better off at the weights today and should finish closer as a result.

Race 7

TCHAIKOVSKY was given a peach of a ride when winning his last start over this distance. He has won four times, finished second twice and third once from 13 starts over this distance. The 6yo gelding takes a drop in class and he can follow up with another victory.

NKANDLA GOLD finished 1.75 lengths behind DONTSHOOTTHEBARMAN last time. He is 2.5kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned.

DONTSHOOTTHEBARMAN was given a perfect ride when winning his last start over this C&D. He received a four-pound penalty for that victory. He is in a good space and merits healthy respect.

Race 8

COMMANDER OF ALL has decent form lines since winning his maiden over 1000m on this course. The son of Captain Of All took on stronger in his last start and drops back in class. He runs well for Kabelo Matsunyane and can return to winning ways.

AFTER HOURS is better than his last start as he was reported to be not striding out. He finished 1.25 lengths behind the top choice in his penultimate run. He is 3kgs worse off at the weights today and may battle to turn the form around.

TWICE AS WILD finished 1.25 lengths behind INAFIX last time. She is 1.5kgs better off at the weights today and there should not be much separating the pair at the finish
