RACE 1
MAGICAL RIVER ran a fair race in the Listed East Cape Fillies Nursery last time. She may not have seen out the 1200m that day as she lacked a finish in the closing stages. The daughter of Querari will enjoy the drop to 1000m and back in Maiden Company, she may be the one to side with.
SERENDIPITOUS was a tad disappointing against male company last time. She finished 4.1 lengths behind the top choice, three runs ago. She is 1.5kgs better off at the weights today and should finish closer as a result.
MAGDALA is better than her last start in the Listed East Cape Fillies Nursery. Her penultimate run when second over this C&D was encouraging. She is likely to race on the speed and may be hard to peg back.
RACE 2
SWEET AND TRUE produced a promising debut effort over 1000m on this course. He challenged strongly all the way to the line, but found one too good in the form of Hideki. The son of Oratorio would have gained from the experience and should love the extra furlong on offer. With the natural improvement that is expected, he should be the one to beat.
GLOBAL STATE has produced two good runs over this C&D. He should have finished closer last time as he hung inwards. The son of Global View is a progressive type and is one of the leading contenders.
CAN’T SAY NO is a filly taking on the males. She ran a fair race on debut over this C&D. The daughter of Canford Cliffs would have come on from the run and if jumping on terms, she should make the expected natural progression.
RACE 3
MY BEST SHOT has produced three fair efforts to date. The manner in which he finishes off his races suggests that he will enjoy the rise to 1400m. He does take on older rivals but has plenty of scope and may be the one to beat.
FIVE STAR MAGIC was running on when second over 1000m last time. It must be noted that the horse that finished third that day has come out and won since. The daughter of Eviction is a progressive type and should love the rise to 1400m. She should give the males a run for their money.
SPECMAGIC is having his first run for the Kelly Mitchley stable. If settled into his new surroundings and with luck from his wide draw, he should give a good account of himself.
RACE 4
AND WE DANCED set the pace over 1600m last time, fought hard but found one too good in the form of United Express. She finished 2.25 lengths behind LUNA HALO in her penultimate run. She is 5kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. From pole position, she may be rewarded for consistency.
LUNA HALO fought hard for her last victory over 1600m on this course. She does have to overcome the widest draw, but Richard Fourie should give her all the necessary assistance from the saddle.
TREASURE HUNT finished 1.75 lengths behind SILVERY BLUE last time. She is 5kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. Three of her four career victories have come over this distance and she should be competitive.
Race 5
FERRANDO stayed on when second over 1200m on this course last time. He has won once, finished second once and third once from six starts over this distance. The 5yo gelding meets the right field and S’manga Khumalo may be able to coax that little bit extra out of him where it matters most.
MR BODACIOUS is better than his last start over 1200m. He won a good race in his penultimate run over this C&D. Should the top choice fluff his lines, he may be the one to pick up the pieces.
GREAT TIMES ran a good race when second over 1200m on this course last time. He may be at his best over further but is in a good space and cannot be ignored.
Race 6
LIGHT WITHOUT ran a good race when third over 1800m on this course last time. He raced from a handy position and stayed on at the finish. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. He has won once, finished second once and third once from five starts over this C&D. From his good draw of three, he should notch up his fourth-career victory.
SPIN DOCTOR finished 1.9 lengths behind the top choice last time. He is 2.5kgs worse off at the weights today and may battle to turn the form around.
CENTRAL CITY was an easy winner of his last start over 1900m on the Polytrack. The son of The United States should have no issues with the rise to 2000m and he merits healthy respect.
RACE 7
BOURNEMOUTH ran a fair race over 2700m on this course last time. It is encouraging that Richard Fourie steps back into the saddle. He will love the extra 100m on offer and if not too far out of his ground turning for home, he should find himself in the winner’s enclosure.
MEDLERS TART was given a peach of a ride when winning her last start. She is in a good space and if Luyolo Mxothwa is able to switch her off early, she can follow up.
PEACE IN OUR WORLD finished 4.2 lengths behind the second selection last time. He is only 0.5kgs better off at the weights today which is not enough for the tables to be turned. The 5yo gelding will be mowing down the frontrunners.
RACE 8
RIMAAH finished 1.5 lengths behind HOLLY’S VIEW last time. She is 2.5kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. The daughter of Querari is at a competitive rating and she can return to winning ways.
HOLLY’S VIEW ran on powerfully to win her last start over this C&D. The daughter of Global View was given a seven-pound penalty for that victory. She is in a good space and merits healthy respect.
SYMBOL OF LOVE was an easy winner of her last start over 1000m on this course. She is better suited to 1000m, but is in good form and must be included in all bets
