RACE 1
EAT PREY LOVE should have finished closer to the winner last time as she hung and was awkwardly placed at the 150m mark. Her debut effort when third over 800m on this course, catches the eye. The daughter of New Predator should love the rise to 1200m and with luck in running, she can shed her maiden tag.
GOLD QUEST clipped heels when leaving the start on debut. She found plenty of betting support that day which suggests that she was showing good work at home. The daughter of Querari would have gained from the experience and she should make the natural improvement.
BRETTY showed good improvement when fourth in her last start over 1000m on this course. The daughter of Horizon will love the extra furlong on offer. She is a progressive type and may have more to come.
RACE 2
PRINCESS HANNAH produced a promising debut effort over 1000m on this course. She could have won that day but was green and shifted away from the crop in the closing stages. The daughter of Pomodoro would have gained from the experience and should love the rise to 1200m. With the natural improvement that is expected, she should be the one to beat.
STRING OF LIGHTS is the stable companion of the top choice. She moved up like a winner last time but was caught late by Global Lady. The daughter of Global View will strip a much fitter horse and is one of the leading contenders.
SUNSET ROAR finished 1.8 lengths behind the second selection last time. She is 0.5kgs worse off at the weights today and may have to settle for the same result.
RACE 3
ON THE GUEST LIST was unlucky not to have won her last start as she was held up for a run between the 300m mark and the 100m mark. She finished 0.5 lengths behind TRIP TO BARBERTON that day. She is 1kg better off at the weights and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. With a bit of luck in running, she can return to winning ways.
TRIP TO BARBERTON won a good race in her last start over this C&D. She raced from a handy position, moved up and held on where it matters most. She is in a good space and can follow up.
ST CLOUD ran on from last when winning her last start over 2200m on the Polytrack. The daughter of Silvano may be at her best on the polytrack and Richard Fourie has opted to ride the top choice. She is in a good space and cannot be ignored.
RACE 4
AFRICA’S ROCK ran on strongly when winning his last start over 1600m on this course. He received a three-pound penalty for that victory. The 6yo gelding will love the rise to 1900m. He meets a similar line-up this afternoon and can follow up.
STORM COMMANDER finished 2.15 lengths behind the top choice last time. He is only 0.5kgs better off at the weights today which is not enough for the tables to be turned. The 7yo gelding is likely to race on the speed and may be hard to peg back.
REACH FORTHE STARS finished 0.25 lengths behind ALADO’SPRIDE last time. He is 2kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. He does have to contend with the widest draw, but gets the services of Luyolo Mxothwa who will give him all the necessary assistance from the saddle.
Race 5
GLOBAL ALLY has very good consistent form lines to his credit. He stayed on strongly when second in the Non-Black Type Fairview Mile last time. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. He drops to 1400m and the blinkers should sharpen him up. From his good draw of two, he should take a power of beating.
SLINGS AND ARROWS has not finished too far off the winner in recent outings. He has won once, finished second once and third twice from seven starts over this C&D. Muzi Yeni is booked to ride and he may be able to get the best out of him.
TRANSACT finished 0.85 lengths behind THE MAURITIAN last time. He is 1.5kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. He would have come on from the outing and should strip much fitter.
Race 6
CHARLIE MALONE finished 1.75 lengths behind SINGLE FILE last time. He is 2.5kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. The son of Querari is likely to be switched off near the rear of the field and will be mowing down the frontrunners.
SINGLE FILE moved up well last time, but was caught in the shadow of the post by Hawk Circle. He meets a similar line-up this afternoon and merits healthy respect under S’manga Khumalo.
TIMBAVATI RIVER is better than his last start as he was reported to be not striding out. He finished third in his penultimate run over this C&D. With a bit of luck from his wide draw of 11, he should have a say in the outcome of this contest.
RACE 7
LUNA HALO took the lead at the 300m mark last time, quickened up well and won with a ton in hand. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. She has won once and finished second once from as many starts over this C&D. The daughter of Fire Away is the horse to beat and she can notch up her seventh-career victory.
SIDDELEY has good recent form lines to her credit. She finished second in her only attempt on this course. The daughter of Lancaster Bomber should have no issues with the rise to 1600m and she is one of the leading contenders.
PUBLIC BENEFIT finished 1.25 lengths behind the top choice last time. She is 4kgs worse off at the weights today and may battle to turn the form around.
RACE 8
LADY MAJORCA followed up her maiden win with a good third-place finish over 1000m on this course. She stumbled leaving the start but the manner in which she stayed on at the finish was encouraging. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. The daughter of William Longsword has ability and if getting away to a clean start, she should find herself in the winner’s enclosure.
RED SASH is having her first run for the Tara Laing stable. She has won once and finished second once from three starts over this distance. The daughter of The United States has dropped in the ratings and if settled into her new surroundings, she should pose a threat.
HILDELITA is better than her last start in the Non-Black Type Aloe Handicap. She runs well for Luyolo Mxothwa and on her previous form, she should have a say in the outcome of this contest
