Race 1

MOONLIGHT TRADER ran a creditable race on debut over this C&D. He was green in running but stayed on at the finish. The son of Erupt would have gained from the experience and with the natural improvement that is expected, he should pose a threat.
PIBE DE ORO showed some improvement in his last start over 800m on this course. It must be noted that the horse that finished second that day has come out and won since. He is a progressive type and may have more to come.
Race 2
KINDRED HEART ran a decent race on debut over 800m on this course. She showed good pace and despite racing green, she stayed on at the finish. It must be noted that the horse that finished second that day has come out and won since. The daughter of Erupt will love the extra distance on offer and with the natural improvement that is expected, she may be the one to beat.
IT’S HER WAY should have finished closer to the winner last time as she hung in the final 100m and cast a shoe in running. She finished 1.75 lengths behind the top choice on debut. The pair meet on the same weight terms today and she may have to settle for the same result.
ACROSS THE POND produced a strong finish when second on debut over this C&D. The daughter of Bezrin would have gained from the experience and should make the natural progression
Race 3
THERES A LIGHT showed good speed over 1200m on the Inside course last time, but found one too good in the form of Mid Winter Wind who has come out and won again since. The gelding seems to have done the trick. If seeing out the extra furlong on offer, he should find himself in the winner’s enclosure.
DHONI is better than his last start as he was reported to be coughing. He returns from a 15-week break, during which time he was gelded. The blinkers may have the desired effect and if fit, he may throw out a big challenge to the top choice.
MONTE BELLO showed good improvement in his last start over 1450m on the Inside course. He lost a length leaving the start, but stayed on at the finish. He is a progressive type and must be included in all bets.
Race 4
This is not the strongest Maiden Plate and caution is advised. The tentative first selection is SPRINGER from the Roy Magner stable. Her last three starts have been decent. The daughter of Vercingetorix will be at home over this distance and she can shed her maiden tag.
LADY LENNOX produced two fair efforts before given a 29-week break. She would have strengthened up during her time off the track. If not in need of this outing, she can run a big race in this line-up.
ZENOBIA’S GOLD raced against winners in her first two career outings. She returns from a 25-week break, during which time she would have strengthened up. If not in need of this run, she can earn a cheque for her patrons.
Race 5
BIOFARMER raced from a handy position over 1600m on the Inside course last time and stayed on to finish third. He will love racing on the Standside course with the longer run-in and with a bit of luck from the widest draw, he can notch up his third-career victory.
RED BOMBER has good recent form lines to his credit. He finished second in both his career efforts over this C&D. Should the top choice fluff his lines, he may be the one to pick up the pieces.
MIA MOO is better than her last start in the Grade 2 Wilgerbosdrift Gauteng Fillies Guineas as she was reported to be fatigued post-race. The daughter of Vercingetorix is the best-weighted runner in this contest and if keeping on a straight line, she should give the males a run for their money.
Race 6
WILLOW’S WISH was not beaten far in the Listed Dr Richard Maponya Handicap last time. He has won three times, finished second twice and third twice from nine starts over this distance. He jumps from a good draw of two and if getting away to a clean start, he can return to winning ways.
TWIN TURBO fought hard in his last victory over this distance on the Vaal Classic course. He has won once, finished second once and third once from as many starts over this C&D. He is likely to race on the speed and may be hard to peg back.
EIFFEL TOWER has consistent form lines to his credit. His last victory came on this course. He should have no issues with the rise to 1800m and with a bit of luck from the widest draw, he should be competitive.
Race 7
BLESS MY STARS returns from a 12-week break and will have her first run for new owners. She ran a good race when third in the Grade 1 Betway Summer Cup last time. She won her only attempt over this C&D. The daughter of Gimmethegreenlight runs well for Athandiwe Mgudlwa and she should be too good for this field.
SAFE PASSAGE was in need of his comeback run over 1400m last time. He finished second in his only attempt over this C&D. He will strip a much fitter horse and should be the first male past the post.
LITIGATION set the pace over this C&D last time and lasted long enough. Gavin Lerena retains the ride from a good draw of four and the combination merit healthy respect.
Race 8
BONETE ran a good race when second in the Listed TAB Spook Express Stakes last time. She raced from a handy position and stayed on at the finish. She does take on male company, but is clearly in a good space and can go one better.
RULE BOOK is a winner of his last two starts, the latest of which was over this C&D. It must be noted that the horse that finished second that day has come out and won since. The 5yo gelding merits healthy respect.
UNITED COUNCIL finished 4.75 lengths behind the top choice last time. The pair meet on the same weight terms today and she may have to settle for the same result.
Race 9
ROYAL MAZARIN ran on powerfully to win his last start over 1800m on this course. He finished second in his only attempt over this C&D. The 6-year-old gelding meets a similar line-up this afternoon and can win again.
MONSIEUR CHEVELLE showed good signs of a form return when second in his last start over this C&D. He is drawn widest of all, but gets the services of Ryan Munger who will give him all the necessary assistance from the saddle.
NUCLEAR FORCE finished 3.75 lengths behind the second choice last time. He is 3.5kgs better off at the weights today and should finish closer as a result. If jumping on terms, he should be involved in the fight to the finish.
Race 10
TWICE THE STORM received a bump leaving the start last time, but stayed on nicely at the finish. It must be noted that Fully Loaded has come out and won again since. He has won once, finished second once and third once from four starts over this C&D. Gavin Lerena is booked to ride and he may be able to coax that little bit extra out of him where it matters most.
WHORLY WHORLY ran a good race when third in his comeback run over this C&D. He would have come on from the run and should strip much fitter. Siyanda Sosibo retains the ride and the pair must be included in all bets.
MAX THE OTTER raced from a handy position over 1450m last time, moved up but was caught late by Fully Loaded. He won his only attempt over this C&D, three runs ago. The son of Vercingetorix takes a drop-in class and should give another good account of himself
