EDINBURGH v SCARLETS

Posted 20h39 April 19

Once again a handicap of -18.5 is well set and while I initially leaned towards Edinburgh I am concerned about the fact that they have had to travel back from losing to the Sharks in Durban. The Scarlets have very little to play for and you would assume they will throw the ball around and this could lead to points flowing on both ends.

BET: 3 Units over 52.5 points at 9/10 at Betxchange

CONNACHT v ZEBRE

Posted 20h37 19 April

Current handicap of -17.5 looks about right, though if pushed I would be leaning Connacht on the minus. There will be bigger fish for me to fry this weekend, but I am going to have an interest in the game which I think will be tight early, but will open up in the second-half.

BET: 2 units 2nd Half high scoring at 5/6 at at Sportingbet*

BENETTON v DRAGONS

Posted 20h28 19 April

The handicap looks well set here at -15.5 (from -13.5 earlier today) and I am not going to be getting involved in this game, but I will have a small interest in the over 52.5. Benetton has been playing some attractive rugby of late and the Dragons themselves are capable of scoring points.

BET: 3 Units Over 52.5 points at 10/11 at WSB

WESTERN FORCE v CRUSADERS

Posted 07h30 19 April

This handicap opened +15.5 and it has only edged in slightly to +14.5 and I must admit that after capping the game +9.5 I did expect the line to move further. It might still do that, but at the moment it appears stable and I will stick with my earlier play of +15.5 I posted on the Forum and will add the Force to score 23 points or more in the match as they have delivered points in a number of their home games over the last season.

BET: 3 Units Force over 22.5 points at 87/100 at Pokerbet

BLUES v BRUMBIES

Posted 07h27 19 April

The points line has tumbled from an opening quote of 54.5 to a current quote of 47.5 and that is because conditions are expected to be poor. I am kicking myself for missing the early value there as would have been going unders anyway as the last three matches between these sides have had 45 points or less in them. At the end of the day I haven't been that impressed by the Brumbies this season and I am going to settle on the handicap play that the Blues win this game by 11 points or more.

BET:  4 units Blues -10.5 at 9/10 generally available

ULSTER v CARDIFF

Posted 07h24 19 April

Ulster are licking their wounds after taking a big hammering against Clermont last week and the money continues to pour in for Cardiff who would be the fresher team. There was plenty of support for Cardiff in the Live Chat and on the panel of last night’s THE HANDICAP and I will keep this simple and go for the plus.

BET: 4 Units Cardiff +9.5 at 87/100 at Pokerbet

GLASGOW WARRIORS v SHARKS

Posted 07h22 19 April

The Sharks have put together a decent run of form, but there is no doubt that their focus will be on the Challenge Cup semi-final that lies ahead in a few weeks. It is not surprising then that the Warriors are massive favourites for this game, -19.5 with the line moving out a couple of points from the opening quote. I can see this being an open game with the Sharks themselves getting a couple of tries and I like the over 47.5 points.

BET: 4 Units Over 47.5 points at 9/10 at WSB

REDS V HIGHLANDERS

Posted 22h40 18 April

The Reds have been a bit disappointing in recent weeks but the Highlanders have not exactly been pulling up trees.

The handicap opened -7.5 Reds in SA and is now down to -6.5 but once agains the points lines is where I am going to play.

It is at times like these you turn to ‘X’ for inspiration and I am going to follow “The Responsible Raging Gambler” who is sweet on the overs in what look like being good conditions.

BET: 3 units over 57.5 at 10/11 at Sportingbet*

FIJIAN DRUA V HURRICANES

Posted 22h28 18 April

The handicap for this game has shifted around all week and at the time of writing there is still a range from -9.5 Canes to +11.5 Fiji.

My focus though is on the points line and I like the under 59.5 on offer. There is some rain about during the day and humidity is forecast in the high 70’s which is not crazy high but there conditions may be tricky.

BET: 4 units under 59.5 points at 9/10 at Betxchange
