Race 1
KALAHARI ROLLER produced a promising debut effort over this distance at Hollywoodbets Scottsville. The manner in which he stayed on at the finish that day was encouraging. The son of New Predator would have gained from the experience and with the natural improvement that is expected, he may find himself in the winner’s enclosure.
VALIEVA hails from the visiting Fanie Bronkhorst stable. She stayed on when second over this distance at Turffontein last time. The daughter of Var is a progressive type and is a threat.
VIEW OF THE WORLD is an unraced son of Ideal World from the Paul Lafferty stable with Muzi Yeni in the saddle. If not too green in running, he should start his career on a positive note. The betting market will be the best guide with regards to him and the other unraced entrants.
Race 2
SHE’S A MACHINE won a good race on debut over this C&D. She was reported to be cut into on her right hind leg which makes the victory that much more encouraging. The daughter of New Predator returns from a well-deserved 10-week break, during which time she would have strengthened up. With luck in running, she should keep her unbeaten record intact.
GOLDEN CHANDELIER showed good speed when winning her last start over this distance at Turffontein. The daughter of William Longsword is a progressive type and if all went well with her travels, she should go close.
PULL A FAST ONE showed speed in her last start over this distance. The daughter of One World is a progressive type and with Richard Fourie in the saddle, she may have more to come.
Race 3
This is a weak Maiden Plate and caution is advised. BAD TO THE BONE is an unraced son of Rafeef from the Mike Miller stable with Tristan Godden in the saddle. He is related to multiple winners including Big Burn and Catch Twentytwo. He does not need to be a stable superstar to win in this field. The betting market will be the best guide with regards to his chances.
MOON HARVEST may be the first raced runner past the post. His last two starts after returning from a 13-week break have been fair. The son of Crusade meets the right field and he can go close under Richard Fourie.
GORGEOUS DUDE ran a fair race on debut over 1200m on this course. The son of Pomodoro would have come on from the run and should love the extra furlong on offer. With the natural improvement that is expected, he should have a say.
Race 4
TRIPPIS TUNE showed good improvement in his last start over 1200m on the Vaal Classic course. He raced from a prominent position and stayed on at the finish. The son of Noble Tune will love the extra furlong on offer and from pole position, he can shed his maiden tag.
TIBBOT BOURKE ran a good race when third in his last start over 1600m at Hollywoodbets Scottsville. It must be noted that the horse that finished second that day has come out and won since. He will strip a much fitter horse and is one of the leading contenders.
TORIX NIGHT’S last three starts have been fair. It must be noted that the horse that finished third in his last outing has come out and won since. He jumps from a handy draw of two and must be included in all bets.
Race 5
VIHAAN’S BOMB has produced two good efforts since returning from a 17-week break. He raced from a handy position over 1900m last time and stayed on to finish second. The son of Lancaster Bomber should have no issues with the rise to 2300m. Richard Fourie is booked to ride and he may be able to coax that little bit extra out of him where it matters most.
AGAMEMNON was his own worst enemy over 2600m last time as he over raced in the early stages. The drop to 2300m should suit him well and he should strip much fitter. The son of Wings Of Desire may be hard to peg back.
RAINBOW OF ROSES’ last two starts have been good. The daughter of Flower Alley tries the 2300m for the first time and with luck in running, she should give the males a run for their money.
Race 6
MALCOLM’S DREAM finished 0.15 lengths behind LUCKY MISS last time. She is 1kg better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. She has won three times from four starts over this distance. From her good draw of two, she can return to winning ways.
LUCKY MISS stayed on when fourth over 1500m at Hollywoodbets Scottsville last time. She has won twice and finished second once from as many starts over this C&D. The 5yo mare will be mowing down the frontrunners.
SOVEREIGN GRANT cost herself winning last time as she shifted away from the crop and hung in the closing stages. She does take a rise in class but is in a good space. If keeping on a straight line, she can go close to winning.
Race 7
BOMBER GIRL stayed on when second over 1200m at Hollywoodbets Scottsville last time. She has finished second once and third once from as many starts over this distance. The daughter of Lancaster Bomber gets the services of Richard Fourie and if not too far out of her ground turning for home, she can return to winning ways.
CAPTAIN’S CHRISTY finished 0.2 lengths behind the top choice last time. The pair meet on the same weight terms today, there should not be much separating them in the run down to the line.
MAQUETTE showed good speed when winning her last start over this distance at Hollywoodbets Scottsville. She has won twice, finished second once and third once from six starts over this C&D. Apprentice Kobeli Lihaba retains the ride and the pair can follow up.
Race 8
PENDRAGON challenged strongly in his last start over this distance on the Turffontein Inside course, but was touched off by Palace Revolt. Both his career victories have come over this distance. He does have an awkward draw of nine to contend with but gets the services of Richard Fourie who will give him all the necessary assistance from the saddle.
JET LEGACY stayed on when third over this distance at Hollywoodbets Scottsville last time. He is having his peak run today and will be cherry-ripe. With luck in running, he should be competitive.
BLESS ME FRED fought hard for his last victory over this distance at Hollywoodbets Scottsville. He finished 1.9 lengths behind the second choice in his penultimate run. He is 1.5kgs better off at the weights today and there should not be much separating them at the finish
