Race 1
SAHARA CAT was an easy winner of the Non-Black Type Kaapse Klopse Summer Coronation Plate last time. It must be noted that multiple horses from that form line have come out and won since. She returns from an 11-week break, during which time she would have strengthened up. The daughter of One World is a progressive type and being the only winner in the race, she should take a power of beating.
DISTING produced a promising debut effort over this C&D. She rallied late to finish second. The daughter of Global View would have gained from the experience and with the natural improvement that is expected, she may be the one to fill the exacta spot.
PENTOLINA is an unraced daughter of One World from the Vaughan Marshall stable with Luyolo Mxothwa in the saddle. She is related to multiple winners including Scalini and Captain Arrow. If not too green in running, she should start her career on a positive note. The betting market will be the best guide with regards to her and the other unraced entrants
Race 2
STAR PERFORMER should have finished closer to the winner last time as he hung in the final 200m. It must be noted that the horse that finished second that day has come out and won since. He has finished second twice from as many starts over this distance. If keeping on a straight line, he may find himself in the winner’s enclosure.
EINSTEIN showed good improvement in his last start over this C&D. He stayed on at the finish but found one too good in the form of Counter Attack. Aldo Domeyer steps into the saddle and should the top choice fluff his lines, he may be the one to pick up the pieces.
PINK MOON has finished third in both her efforts to date. She returns from a 20-week break, during which time she would have strengthened up. If not in need of the run, she should give the males a run for their money.
Race 3
CHARLENE’S last two starts have been good. She raced from a handy position over 1400m last time and stayed on to finish third. It must be noted that Wugug has come out and won again since. If not too far out of her ground at the halfway mark, she can shed her maiden tag in this field.
ELLORIX challenged strongly in her last start against male company, but found one too good in the form of Sooty. She would have come on from the run and should strip much fitter. She is back against her own sex and is one of the leading contenders.
TRUE HORIZON should have finished closer to the winner last time as she had to be switched in the latter stages. If repeating that effort in this line-up, she should earn another cheque for her patrons.
Race 4
KAAPSE KLOPSE showed some signs of needing his last start after returning from a 10-week break. He would have come on from the run and should strip much fitter. The son of Rafeef has got ability and if putting his best foot forward, he can win a race of this nature.
TAMBOURINE MAN has consistent form lines to his credit. He raced from a prominent position last time and stayed on to finish third. He is in a good space and may be rewarded for consistency.
MOONACRES finished 0.75 lengths behind the second selection last time. The pair meet on the same weight terms today and there should not be much separating them in the run down to the line.
Race 5
HELIOTROPE has shown good improvement in her last two starts over this distance, with the blinkers fitted. She stayed on at the finish last time, but found one too good in the form of Basic Maneuvers. The daughter of Rafeef jumps from pole position and Aldo Domeyer may be able to coax that little bit extra out of her where it matters most.
PRINCESS OF BAYEUX finished 0.75 lengths behind the top choice last time. She is 1kg better off at the weights today and there should not be much separating the pair at the finish.
LICKETY SPLIT has been a tad disappointing in her last two efforts. It must be noted that the horse that finished third in her last outing has come out and won since. She tries the 1800m for the first time and if seeing out the extra distance on offer, she should be competitive.
Race 6
TYPEFACE finished 0.3 lengths behind TWO A PENNY last time. She is 1.5kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. She has won once and finished second three times from as many starts over this C&D. She is likely to be switched off near the rear of the field and will be mowing down the frontrunners.
TWO A PENNY is a winner of her last two starts over this C&D. She raced from a prominent position last time and held on where it matters most. She is in a good space and can notch up the hat-trick.
SUMMER NIGHT CITY held on where it matters most to win her last start over this C&D. The blinkers have done the trick on the daughter of Judpot. She carries a handy galloping mass of 53kgs and can follow up.
Race 7
ALLEZ MORIS showed good improvement in his last start over 1400m on this course. He was settled near the rear of the field that day and finished his race off strongly. The 4yo gelding would have come on from the run and should strip much fitter. He has cracked a good draw of two and against weaker company, he should be the one to beat.
UNICORN ALERT raced wide around the turn last time and stayed on to finish third. The son of Vercingetorix will love the rise to the mile. Should the top choice fluff his lines, he may be the one to pick up the pieces.
BARDOLINO stayed on when sixth over this C&D last time. He has inconsistent form lines and if putting his best foot forward, he should be involved at the finish.
Race 8
RIVERSTONE won a good race when shedding his maiden tag over this C&D last time. It must be noted that the horse that finished second that day has come out and won since. He does take on stronger but gets the services of 4kgs claiming apprentice Brevan Plaatjies which will assist his cause. The son of The United States has plenty of scope and should be up to the task at hand.
RADICCHIO finished 1.05 lengths behind THE TINKERMAN last time. He is 1kg better off at the weights today and there should not be much separating the pair at the finish. He is having his peak run and will be cherry-ripe.
THE TINKERMAN produced a strong finish when second over this C&D last time. Bernard Fayd’Herbe returns to the saddle and he can go one better against similar company.
Race 9
This is a weak Class 5 race and caution is advised. The tentative first selection is SEEKING PEACE from the Mike Stewart stable. She should have finished closer to the winner last time as she had to be switched for running room at the 200m mark. Craig Zackey is booked to ride and he may be able to get the best out of her where it matters most.
BENEATH THE MOON finished 0.1 lengths behind the top choice last time. She is 0.5kgs better off at the weights today and there should not be much separating them at the finish.
SIMPLY BEAUTIFUL finished 0.45 lengths behind the top selection last time. The pair meet on the same weight terms today. Richard Fourie steps back into the saddle and with luck in running, she should have a say in the outcome of this contest.
Race 10
LA DIVINA was not beaten far in her last start over 1200m on this course. She showed good speed that day before getting outrun late. The daughter of Vercingetorix will love the drop back to 1000m. She is the stable elect with Corne Orffer in the saddle and can return to winning ways.
PALO QUEEN finished 0.5 lengths behind SILVER SCREEN last time. She is 1kg better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. Richard Fourie is booked to ride and he may be able to get the best out of her.
SILVER SCREEN is a winner of her last two starts over this C&D. She is clearly in a good space and can notch up the hat-trick
