The son of Horizon is a progressive type and if seeing out the extra furlong on offer, he can shed his maiden tag.
GORGEOUS KLEIN finished 1.25 lengths behind the top choice on debut. He should have finished closer to the winner that day as he was switched for running room at the 400m mark. The son of One World would have gained from the experience and should be competitive over the extra distance on offer.
MY BEST SHOT should have finished closer to the winner on debut as he was inconvenienced at the 250m mark. The son of Fire Away would have come on from the run and should make the natural progression.
RACE 2
KEENONKELLY raced from a handy position over 1200m on the Polytrack last time but found one too good in the form of Si Gioca. The daughter of What A Winter is having her first run on the turf track and she steps back up to 1400m. Muzi Yeni is booked to ride and he may be able to coax that little bit extra out of her where it matters most.
SEA OF TEARS has finished second in her last three starts. She gets the services of 2.5kgs claiming apprentice Kobeli Lihaba which will assist her cause. Should the top choice fluff her lines, she may be the one to pick up the pieces.
WINNING GRACE is the stable companion of the second choice. She should have finished closer to the winner last time as she had to be switched for running room at the 300m mark. With luck in running, she can feature.
RACE 3
RUN FOR ME showed good improvement in his local debut over this C&D. It must be noted that the horse that finished fourth that day has come out and won since. The tongue-tie seems to have done the trick on the son of Master Of My Fate. If getting away to a clean start, he can shed his maiden tag.
BATTLE OF KURSK returns from a 19-week break and is having his first run for Alan Greeff. Stable jockey Richard Fourie is booked to ride and there should be improvement to come.
WAR SWORD has decent recent form lines to his credit. The son of William Longsword will be doing his best work at the finish and he can earn another cheque for his patrons.
RACE 4
TREASURE HUNT is better than her last start against male company over 1400m on this course. The daughter of Elusive Fort finished second in her only C&D attempt, three runs ago. She has cracked a good draw of three and in this class, she may be hard to peg back in the run down to the line.
UNYIELDING was in need of her run in the Non-Black Type Lady’s Bracelet. It must be noted that multiple horses from that form line have come out and won since. She will strip a much fitter horse today and improvement is expected.
METAR ran on powerfully to win her last start over 1400m on this course. It must be noted that multiple horses from that form line have come out and won since. She has won twice, finished second three times and third once from 11 starts over this distance. With luck in running, she can follow up.
Race 5
GRAZINGINTHEGRASS is better than his last start in the Listed Jonsson Workwear Algoa Cup. He returns from a 16-week break which may have done him the world of good. He has won twice, finished second once and third once from six starts over this distance. The 6yo gelding races well fresh and with luck in running, he should be the one to beat.
CHERRY ANO won a good race in the Non-Black Type Fairview Mile last time. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. He has finished second three times from as many starts over this distance. Luyolo Mxothwa is likely to use his early gate speed to overcome the widest draw.
HOLD MY HAND won a game race in the Grade 3 Summer Fling Stakes last time. She is in a good space and if all went well with her travels, she should give the males a run for their money.
Race 6
FAIRY KNIGHT won a game race in the Sophomore Plate last time. He raced from a handy position, moved up and kept finding all the way to the line. He is likely to race on the speed from his good draw of two and should notch up the hat-trick.
UBISIKA has top recent form lines to his credit. He won his last two starts over this C&D. The 3yo gelding does take on stronger, but he is in a good space and merits healthy respect.
TRIP TO MAPUTO stayed on when third over 1100m at Hollywoodbets Kenilworth last time. She has won once and finished third once from three starts over this distance. The daughter of Trippi will be mowing down the frontrunners.
RACE 7
THREE ROCKS is much better than her last start in the Grade 2 Cartier Sceptre Stakes. Her penultimate run when third in the Grade 2 wsb.co.za Southern Cross Stakes catches the eye. She has won three times and finished second once from as many starts on this course. On best form shown, she should notch up her sixth-career victory.
GIMME’S LASSIE’S last start can be ignored as she was reported to have choked up. It must be noted that Promettere has come out and won again since. She finished 1.85 lengths behind the top choice in her penultimate run. She is 0.5kgs better off at the weights today and should finish closer as a result.
GOLDEN PACIFIC has top consistent form lines to her credit. It must be noted that the form of her last outing has been franked. She always gives of her best and merits healthy respect.
RACE 8
WHATEVER NEXT was an easy winner of his last start over this distance on the Polytrack. He finished 1.25 lengths behind THE WINTER LAKE in his penultimate run. He is 1.5kgs better off at the weights today and there should not be much separating the pair at the finish. He is suited to this C&D and can follow up.
THE WINTER LAKE is better than his last start over 1400m. He won his only attempt over this C&D. If finding the form of his penultimate run, he should pose a threat.
