Race 1

PLAY WITH FIRE showed very good improvement in her last start over 1400m on this course. The manner in which she stayed on at the finish was encouraging. The daughter of Master Of My Fate meets the right field and if confirming her recent improvement, she can shed her maiden tag.

ANNEWITHAN E’S last three starts have been decent. She has been her own worst enemy as she has been hanging in the closing stages. She gets the services of capable work rider Samuel Mosia and if keeping on a straight line, she should pose a threat.

FAIRY CIRCLE has fair recent form lines to her credit. She tries the mile for the first time and if seeing out the extra distance on offer, she can finish in the placings. 

Race 2

JUST BE LEKKER should have finished closer to the winner in the Grade 2 Umkhomazi Stakes last time. It must be noted that multiple horses from that form line have come out and won since. The daughter of William Longsword is above average and back against her own sex, she should be the one to beat.

MOVING IN ran a decent race when fourth in the Non-Black Type Bloodstock SA Sales Cup (Fillies) last time. She returns from a 13-week break, during which time she would have strengthened up. Should the top choice fluff her lines, she may be the one to pick up the pieces.

GLOBAL THUNDER has not finished too far off the winner in recent outings. She steps back up to 1200m and the blinkers have been removed. She runs well for Muzi Yeni and can finish in the money.

Race 3

SHINE IN MEMPHIS should have finished closer to the winner last time as she hung in the final 400m before getting outrun late. 1.5kgs claiming apprentice Siyanda Sosibo steps back into the saddle and in this field, she may be the one to side with.

VENETIAN MOONLIGHT finished 3 lengths behind the top choice on debut. She is 1.5kgs worse off at the weights today. The daughter of Lancaster Bomber would have come on from the run and should make the natural progression. 

SOUTHERN STYLE is still a maiden after 25 starts, but has produced two decent efforts for the Craig Mayhew stable. 4kgs claiming apprentice Trent Mayhew steps back into the saddle and she should earn another cheque for her patrons. 

Race 4

HALBERDIER raced from just off the pace over this distance on the Turffontein Inside course last time, but found one too good in the form of Barbaresco. He is in a good space and with Muzi Yeni in the saddle, he can go one better. 

POCKET WATCH should have won his last start over this C&D. It must be noted that the horse that finished fourth that day has come out and won since. Gavin Lerena retains the ride and the son of Master Of My Fate merits healthy respect. 

THERES A LIGHT produced a promising debut effort over this C&D. He showed good speed that day, but was caught in the shadow of the post by Duke Of Rock. The son of Querari would have gained from the experience and with the natural improvement that is expected, he should be competitive. 

Race 5

EIGER SANCTION‘S last two starts over 1200m have been fair. The son of Potala Palace is a progressive type and should love the rise to the mile. Athandiwe Mgudlwa retains the ride and he can shed his maiden tag. 

VIVA BRAZIL finished 3 lengths behind the top choice on debut. He lost 2 lengths leaving the start, understandably raced green but the manner in which he stayed on was encouraging. The son of Oratorio would have gained from the experience and should make the natural progression

EMBLEM OF WAR is an unraced son of Global View from the Mike and Adam Azzie stable with Muzi Yeni in the saddle. He is related to four-time winner Varsity Bourbon. If not in need of the run, he should give a good account of himself. The betting market will be the best guide with regards to his chances.

Race 6

SECOND BREATH ran a good race when second in the Non-Black Type Betway The Lady’s Stakes last time. She was reported to be not striding out that day which makes the effort that much more encouraging. She has won three times and finished second twice from eight starts over this C&D. 4kgs claiming apprentice Trent Mayhew is booked to ride which will assist her chances.

BERENGARIA finished 3.2 lengths behind the top choice last time. The pair meet on the same weight terms today and she may have to settle for the same result. 

GOLDEN ASPEN has fair recent form lines to her credit. She has dropped to a competitive rating and on best form shown, she may be the one to cause the upset. 

Race 7

HOME OF THE BRAVE raced from a handy position over 1450m last time and stayed on to finish third. He has won once and finished second once from as many starts over this distance. The son of The United States is having his peak run today and should be too good for this field.

NOW I GOT YOU was disappointing over this distance on the Classic course last time. He finished 0.3 lengths behind ARCHIMIDES in his penultimate run. He is 13kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. He won his only attempt over this C&D and cannot be ignored.

 HAWKBILL finished 3.85 lengths behind the top choice last time. He would have come on from the run and should strip much fitter. He runs well on this course and should improve.

Race 8

EIFFEL TOWER followed up his maiden win with a decent fourth-place finish over this C&D. Despite over racing in the early stages, the manner in which he stayed on at the finish was encouraging. The son of Potala Palace has plenty of scope and if Athandiwe Mgudlwa is able to switch him off early, he should be involved in the fight to the finish.

NAPOLEON stayed on over this distance on the Classic course against stronger last time. He has finished second in both his efforts on this course. He drops back in class and should pose a threat. 

SAGE KING raced from a handy position last time and kept finding to bring up his third career victory. He won his only attempt over this C&D. He meets a similar type of field this afternoon and can follow up
