Samoa:

Samoa were not in action last weekend and they enter the tournament trading at around 32/1 to top Pool D with Betway and 9/1 to reach the quarter finals. After this they will face Argentina, Japan and then England provide the opposition in their final pool match.

Warm up results comprise of a 34-9 home win over Tonga in early August before they headed to France where they beat the Barbarians 28-14 and most recently they went down 17-13 to Ireland.

In RWC 2019 in Japan Samoa won just 1 of their pool matches alongside 3 defeats to head home early. They beat pool outsiders Russia 34-9 first up but then lost to Scotland (34-0), Japan (38-19) and Ireland (47-5).

Chile:

Chile made their RWC finals debut against Japan in Toulouse on Sunday. The main handicap line settled in the mid 20's with Chile being the outsiders and although they were beaten 42-12, conceding 6 tries, they gave a decent enough account. Rodrigo Fernandez scored the opening try of the game for Chile but they picked up a yellow card and were 21-7 down by half time. Escobar scored the second Chile try to cut the deficit but they were then punished for picking up a second yellow.

Chile's results in preparation matches included a 26-25 defeat away to Uruguay and a 28-26 home defeat to Namibia and they also lost twice to an Argentinian XV.

Chile remain the rank outsiders in this years tournament and you can write your own ticket for them to get through the pool stage.

Betting Angle

I am looking forward to seeing Samoa in action as I was impressed with them against Ireland. Chile looked good early before fading against Italy and I think that at some point the Samoans will pull clear. The handicap is high though and I find myself coming back to the Chile points line of 9.5.

They got 12 against Italy and I think they will find a few holes in this Samoa defence and I am backing them to score 10 points or more, surely an early penalty and a converted try is not too much to ask?
