Race 1
TRIPTOTHEWOODS should have finished closer to the winner last time as she was cramped for galloping room from the 250m mark to the 100m mark. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. She finished 0.5 lengths behind LADY RENEE in her penultimate run. She is 5kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. With luck in running, she should be the one to beat.
PONTE VECCHIO‘S last two starts have been fair. She jumps from pole position and is one of the leading contenders.
HEAD GIRL is better than her last two starts. She finished third in her only attempt over this C&D, three runs ago. The daughter of Duke Of Marmalade will strip a much fitter horse and if putting her best foot forward, she should have a say in the outcome of this contest.
Race 2
ITSRAININGWILLIAM is better than his last start in the Grade 3 WSB Pocket Power Stakes. It must be noted that the horse that finished third that day has come out and won since. He has finished third twice from as many starts over this distance. He is likely to have his own way in front and under Grant van Niekerk, he may be hard to peg back.
SACHDEV finished 1.25 lengths behind GAINSFORD last time. He is 2.5kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. He continues to drop in the ratings and may be the one to fill the exacta spot.
GAINSFORD produced a strong finish when winning his last start over this distance at Hollywoodbets Kenilworth. He steps back up in class, but carries a handy galloping mass of 54kgs and should be up to the task at hand.
Race 3
GOLDEN GREY has produced two good runs to date. He was running on when third over 1200m last time. The son of Danon Platina is a progressive type and will love the rise to 1400m. Bernard Fayd’Herbe takes the ride and he may be able to coax that little bit extra out of him where it matters most.
STARS IN HEAVEN hails from the Gareth van Zyl stable and is having his first run in the Western Cape. He ran a good race when second over 1100m on the Hollywoodbets Greyville polytrack last time. It must be noted that Shot Of Courage has come out and won again since. Should the top choice fluff his lines, he may be the one to pick up the pieces
GO IT ALONE‘S last start can be ignored as he was reported to be not striding out. His debut effort when fourth over 1200m at Hollywoodbets Kenilworth was encouraging. He will be at home over the 1400m and if jumping on terms, he should be competitive.
Race 4
OLIVER challenged strongly in his last start over 1400m at Hollywoodbets Kenilworth, but found one too good in the form of Contiguous. He returns from a 16-week break which may have done him the world of good. He meets the right field and from his good draw of two, he should find himself in the winner’s enclosure.
GREENLAND has produced two fair efforts to date. He should have finished closer to the winner last time as he was bumped leaving the start and had to be switched at the 200m mark. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. He will love the rise to the mile and should have a say in the outcome of this contest
ALL ABOUT RONNIE ran a good race when second over 1400m last time. Bernard Fayd’Herbe rides on his return and if jumping on terms, he can finish in the placings.
Race 5
WOMAN‘S WORLD raced from a handy position over 1600m at Hollywoodbets Kenilworth, moved up well but was caught late by Miss New York. The daughter of Global View will love the rise to 1800m and if seeing out the extra distance on offer, she can go one better.
MOTHERSHIP finished 0.5 lengths behind the top choice in her last start. The pair meet on the same weight terms today and there should not be much separating them in the run down to the line.
DAWN OF GOLD was in need of her first two career outings. The daughter of Gold Standard has plenty of scope and should love the rise to 1800m. From pole position, she should have improvement to come
Race 6
NTABAZONDI ran on powerfully when winning his last start over 1400m at Hollywoodbets Kenilworth. He received a five-pound penalty for that victory. The son of Mogok takes a slight rise in class, but he is in a good space and can follow up.
TOTHEMOONANDBACK finished 2.25 lengths behind QUE SHIRAZ last time. He is 2kgs better off at the weights today and there should not be much separating them at the finish. He is likely to be settled near the rear of the field and will be mowing down the frontrunners.
QUE SHIRAZ showed good guts when winning his last start over 1400m at Hollywoodbets Kenilworth. He is likely to use his early gate speed to overcome his awkward draw of eight and may be hard to peg back in the run down to the line.
Race 7
NIGHT RULER finished 1.35 lengths behind CORONATION TIME last time. He is 4.5kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. He has finished second in both his efforts over this distance. Grant van Niekerk takes the ride and he is capable of returning to winning ways.
LOVE IS A ROSE got up late when winning the Grade 3 Final Fling Stakes last time. She takes on male company this afternoon and if this run has not come too soon, she should pose a threat.
SUDDEN SONG finished 0.75 lengths behind CORONATION TIME last time. He is 3.5kgs better off at the weights and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. He is suited to this course and must be included in all bets.
Race 8
WYAG finished 2.25 lengths behind DANCE VARIETY last time. He is 2.5kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. He has won once, finished second once and third twice from as many starts over this C&D. He is likely to be switched off near the rear of the field from his awkward draw of eight and will be mowing down the frontrunners.
DANCE VARIETY won a good race in his last start over 1200m at Hollywoodbets Kenilworth. He raced from just off the pace and found a good kick where it matters most. Craig Zackey retains the ride and the combination merit healthy respect.
DEAN STREET finished 1.25 lengths behind the second selection last time. He is 1.5kgs better off at the weights today and there should not be much separating them in the run down to the line.
Race 9
FORT RED showed good signs of a form return last time. He had no luck in running that day which cost him the victory. He has won twice, finished second twice and third once from seven starts over this C&D. It is encouraging that Grant van Niekerk has kept faith in the ride and he should go one better.
MOYA WA LALIGA has found betting support in his last two victories. He showed good speed over 1200m at Hollywoodbets Scottsville last time and kept finding to hold all challengers at bay. He jumps from pole position and if suited to this course, he can notch up the hat-trick.
CAFE CULTURE finished 0.3 lengths behind the top choice last time. He is 0.5kgs better off at the weights today and there should not be much separating them in the run down to the line
