BettingDiaryThe Stade de France is the venue for Saturday’s Champions League Final between Liverpool and Real Madrid. We take a look at the game from a betting angle.

LIVERPOOL FORM

Liverpool suffered a scare in their semi-final against Villarreal where having taken a 2-0 lead to Spain, they found themselves 2-0 down early before coming back to win the match 3-2 and the tie 5-2 on aggregate. They had previously seen off Benfica 6-4 on aggregate and Inter 2-1. Liverpool had come through the group stages with a 100% record and they have recently won the FA Cup in England. They will though have to put aside the disappointment on missing out on the League Title to Manchester City on the last day of the season.

There have been quite a few goals in Liverpool’s recent Champions League matches and across the quarter-finals and semi-finals over 3.5 goal backers would have collected in 3 of the 4 games.

REAL MADRID FORM

Real Madrid wrapped up the Spanish Title some time back and probably come into this game with fresher legs than Liverpool.

They beat Manchester City 6-5 on aggregate requiring extra time in the home leg. They had lost the away leg 4-3 and trailed 1-0 after 89 minutes at home before 2 late dramatic goals forced extra time. They also required extra time against another English team, Chelsea, in the quarter-finals where they blew a 2 goal lead from the away leg, but also managed to get the business done when it counted. In their last 16 match they beat French side, PSG, 3-2 on aggregate. They won 5 and lost 1 of their 6 group matches.

Liverpool 11/10

Draw 27/10

Real Madrid 5/2

Suggested Bet: Liverpool win at 11/10

For my money Liverpool are the better side although Real Madrid have shown that you can never count them out. I am backing Liverpool to get the job done in the 90 minutes.

Other markets which will be of interest to punters is the over and under 2.5 goals where over 2.5 goals is trading at 15/20. Recent stats from the sides European games suggest there will be goals, but beware because the last 3 Champions League Finals have all failed to reach the 3 goal mark.

Both teams to score, YES, is trading at 4/6 and if you are looking for a speculative play, how about Liverpool 3, Real Madrid 2 at 22/1.

There are also odds on first and anytime goal scorer and Mo Salah and Karim Benzema share favouritism for first goal scorer at 4/1.
