We take a look at 3 of the DSTV Premiership matches taking place over the weekend and suggest a bet in each.
SATURDAY
ORLANDO PIRATES v TS GALAXY
Pirates are currently 7th on the table and are coming off a midweek draw 1-1 away at AmaZulu. Their last home game also finished as a stalemate, 0-0 against Baroka and overall at home they have won 2, drawn 3 and lost 1 of their 6 games. Pirates home matches have averaged 2 goals each this season.
TS Galaxy are currently 13th on the log and got a much needed victory last time out beating Chippa United 3-1 at home. They previously lost 3-1 on the road to Marumo Gallants and 5 out of the last 6 TS Galaxy matches would have delivered profits for those backing over 2.5 goals. They have really battled on the road this season losing 6 out of 6 and only scoring 4 goals while conceding 14.

Orlando Pirates 7/10
Draw 49/20
TS Galaxy 9/2
Suggested Bet: Pirates win at 7/10
I am not going to get fancy here, but Pirates should be able to put Galaxy away given the visitors struggles on their road trips this season. Pirates would have been disappointed with their midweek draw and I fancy them to bounce back here with 3 points.
SUPERSPORT UNITED v MAMELODI SUNDOWNS
The big derby is undoubtedly the match of the weekend and pits 3rd placed SuperSport against log leaders, Sundowns. These sides met as recently as the 24th November when SuperSport drew 2-2 with Sundowns and those were the first goals that Sundowns had conceded this season.
SuperSport are coming off a 1-0 away win over Stellenbosch and prior to that they lost 1-0 at home to Sekhukhune. SuperSport home matches have been amongst the highest scoring in the division with 5 of the 7 games delivering profits for over 2.5 goal backers.
Sundowns have a massive 11 point lead at the top of the PSL standings and have bounced back to winning ways with a 3-2 home win over Royal AM last time out having previously drawn 1-1 away at Stellenbosch. They are undefeated on the road this season with 3 wins and 3 draws and Sundowns away games have averaged just 1.5 goals each with only 1 of the 6 matches reaching the 3 goal mark.

SuperSport United 51/20
Draw 2/1
Mamelodi Sundowns 5/4
Suggested Bet: SuperSport win at 51/20
I am sticking my neck out here and going for something of an upset and for Sundowns to lose their first match of the season. They have been wobbling just a bit of late and the signs are there that they could be beaten and SuperSport are playing well and may be the team to do it.
SUNDAY
MARITZBURG UNITED v STELLENBOSCH
Maritzburg United are 11th on the table, but on a poor run which has seen them draw 4 and lose 3 of their last 7 matches. Last time out they lost 3-2 away at Cape Town City and prior to that had 3 successive draws against Swallows, AmaZulu and Marumo Gallants. Maritzburg home matches have been very low scoring with only 7 goals in 6 games and all 6 of those matches would have seen you collect from your bookmaker had you been backing under 2.5 goals.
Stellenbosch are 6th on the log, but in something of a free fall as they have now gone 6 matches without a win. Last time out they lost 1-0 at home to Stellenbosch and their last away game was a 1-0 defeat to Royal AM. Stellenbosch away matches have averaged 2.1 goals each and their last 4 away games have only had a total of 6 goals.

Maritzburg United 17/10
Draw 37/20
Stellenbosch 39/20
Suggested Bet: Over 2.5 goals at 17/10
The draw looks a big runner here, but it is suitably priced and I am going to go for what I think may be a value play of over 2.5 goals. Maritzburg’s home record suggests this is rather optimistic, but head-to-head fixtures at this ground would have seen this bet arrive in the last 2 renewals and at such a big price I just can’t resist having a go at overs.
