AFCONgeneralTwo more Africa Cup of Nations Round of 16 matches take place on Sunday and our focus is on the game between Egypt v DR Congo

The first of the matches on Sunday sees Equatorial Guinea face off with Guinea but we concentrate on the clash of the draw specialists.

Egypt

Egypt were in a competitive looking Group B and after drawing all 3 of their matches they finished as runners up to Cape Verde who went unbeaten with 2 wins and 1 draw. Ghana and Mozambique both finished with 2 points and caught the first plane home.

All 3 of Egypt's matches ended all square at 2-2. They needed a Mo Salah penalty in injury time to tie up their opening game against Mozambique and Salah went off injured when they shared 4 goals with Ghana second time out where Egypt came from 1-0 and 2-1 down.

With Salah back in Liverpool receiving treatment on a hamstring the nerves would have been jangling going into the final group match with Cape Verde. A goal a piece either side of half time had things locked up, Egypt found what they though was a winner on 93 mins only for Cape Verde to make it 2-2 just before the final whistle.

DR Congo

DR Congo also drew all 3 of their group matches and finished as runners up to Morocco who were unbeaten with 2 wins and 1 draw. Zambia and Tanzania both earned 2 points and were eliminated.

There were fewer thrills in DR Congo's matches although they will take heart from a 1-1 draw with Morocco either side of another 1-1 draw with Zambia and a 0-0 stalemate with Tanzania.

The Betting

Egypt are currently trading at around 14/10 to win the game with the draw at 2/1 and DR Congo are priced at around 23/10

A game of 3 goals or more in total is priced at 18/10 and it's 13/10 for both teams to score.

Verdict:

Subject to making a full recovery Salah is only expected back if Egypt make further progress beyond the Round of 16. They have been expensive to follow and given both sides have drawn all their matches so far extra time will probably be a popular choice.

However, I think Egypt are quite backable at 14/10 to get the job done. Their goals have been shared around and I'm looking for Trezeguet to pop up any time.
