Couch Critic previews Brisbane Heat vs Melbourne Renegades and Melbourne Stars vs Adelaide Strikers in the Big Bash League and nails up his best bets with @Olimp_SA
BIG BASH - 14 & 15 Jan
It’s a battle of teams trying to stay alive as we approach the playoffs in the Big Bash.
Brisbane Heat vs Melbourne Renegades, Thu 14 Jan @ 10:15 Canberra
It’s been a season to forget for the Renegades and they are probably already relegated to mere potential part poopers at this point of the comp. The first team hoping not to be tripped up by the Melbourne strugglers is a Brisbane Heat side who have relied heavily on Chris Lynn with the willow.
Betolimp Best Bets
Top Renegade Bowler – I Wasim@ 5.00
Wasim has performed tidily in the last few outings and I am willing to back him here given few others have really put their hands up for the Renegades.
Top Brisbane Batsman - J Denly @ 5.00
The Englishman bats at number three and if Lynn fails then he should be right in the mix for us.
Top Renegades Batsman – M Harvey @ 5.50
Finch has been in poor form and Marsh hasn’t been available of late whilst Nabi has left with his other Afghan mates. The opener looks quite attractive in this market given a lack of quality alternatives.
Melbourne Stars vs Adelaide Strikers, Fri 15 Jan @ 10:15 Melbourne
The other Melbourne side were tipped by many to go all the way this season but find themselves second from the bottom. Winning is becoming a necessity rather than a nicety for the Stars at this point. The Strikers aren’t that much better off and without their ace Afghan they desperately need another victory to keep them in the mix.
Betolimp Best Bets
Top Stars Bowler – A Zampa @ 3.50
I backed the leggy last time out and he didn’t disappoint. Zampa is one of the few Melbourne players currently operating at a high level.
Top Strikers Bowler – W Agar @ 3.50
With Rashid Khan on route back to Afghanistan it will be up to the bulky Agar to lead the attack for Adelaide.
Man of the Match – P Salt @ 13.00
Salt and Carey have been the form batsmen for the Strikers. At this price I like the value on Salt who comes into this match with a recent fifty to his name.
