The IPL action keeps coming thick and fast. Here is a look at this week’s matches and where my money is going.

Delhi Capitals vs Sunrisers Hyderabad, Tuesday 29 September – Abu Dhabi

Delhi have charged to two straight victories. They have yet to notch up a total in excess of 180 but everyone in their top six has had a chance to have a decent contribution with the willow. On the bowling front KR Rabada has led the attack with aplomb.

The Sunrisers find themselves at the opposite end of the table than their opponents having suffered two defeats from as many outings. There is still plenty of time to go in the comp but SRH will want to right the ship sooner rather than later. In both their previous outings it was only really the top 3 that looked capable of adding significant runs. Bowling wise they need Rashid Khan to hit the highs of 2019 as they lack some genuine wicket-takers.

All signs point to Delhi yet I just have this feeling that the Sunrisers will come good in this one. Bairstow has shown signs of being in ominous touch whilst David Warner looks to be getting closer to his best. Personally I fancy Manish Pandey as their rock in the order. Look out for Nabi to add a few important hits later on and be a valuable option with the ball.

Rajasthan Royals vs Kolkata Knight Riders, Wednesday 30 September – DSC Dubai

The Royals have two wins and two scores above 200 to their name. Steve Smith and Sanju Samson have proven impossible to contain early in this tournament. From a bowling perspective they have however also conceded 200-puls on both occasions. Jofra Archer needs more support from his fellow bowlers.

André Russell and Eoin Morgan have the potential to be the most lethal middle order in the competition yet the West Indian in particular has yet to be unleashed. Superstar, Pat Cummins put in an improved performance last time out and KKR will be hoping for more from their big signing. Narine also looks to be improving whilst the Kuldeep conundrum continues to baffle.

Both teams appear to have stronger batting than bowling line-ups. I do however feel it’s only a matter of time before Dre Rus starts hitting a few big ones and Morgan should also benefit if he could get to the crease earlier. Nitish Rana is no strangers to putting in some bug hits so look out for the attacking lefty who bats at no 3.

Kings XI Punjab vs Mumbai Indians, Thursday 01 October – Abu Dhabi

Mumbai did the unthinkable as they were able to force a Super Over when chasing 201 against RCB and that after a slow start. Kishan and Pollard found their range to take Mumbai to within a whisker of the most unlikely of victories. Concerning for the Indians is a lack of form from De Kock whilst they remain over reliant on Rohit at the top. With the ball Bumrah hasn’t quite gotten back to his best and they have struggled to find the right balance in their attack.

With Rahul and Agarwal leading the charge the Kings XI have looked great with willow in hand. Mohammed Shami has proven the standout with the ball.

The odds suggest that Punjab have little chance in this one but I beg to differ. With bat in hand they will put Mumbai under an enormous amount of pressure and then they just need to front up better with the ball to give themselves a realistic shot at victory.
