Football ManCity120We look to two big matches from the English Premier League and one from Serie A for our European football treble on Sunday 17th January with the odds boosted by @Olimp_SA

We had no joy at all with our final treble of 2020 and we return for the first attempt of the new year with a record of 2 winning weekends from 13 attempts so far this season. We stick with the same match result, over 2.5 goals and both teams to score format for this week's treble and the odds have been boosted to 9.10 by @Olimp_SA

The Premier League's game of the season so far sees top of the table Manchester United head to Anfield.

Liverpool have drawn 2 and lost 1 of their last 3 matches to lose top spot to their rivals but there remains little wrong with their home form which comprises of 7 wins and 1 draw, easily the best in the division. Anfield has become the proverbial fortress and you have to go back to April 2017 for the last time Liverpool lost a Premier League game on this ground.

United are 3 points clear of Liverpool in the title race and their run of 9 wins and 2 draws in their last 11 league outings puts them firmly in what looks sure to be a nail-biting title race. A 1-0 win at Burnley in midweek saw United hit the summit and their away record this season shows 7 wins and 1 draw. Whilst Liverpool boast an unrivalled home record United are the best travellers in the division and the better overall current form also belongs to the visitors.

Manchester City are also in the mix and the title race looks to be shaping up into a 3 horse race. Looking at fairly recent results from key title race matches Liverpool played out a 1-1 draw at Manchester City in November and United and City drew a Manchester derby clash at Old Trafford in December. The teams look hard to separate in the circumstances and a draw in the match result market kicks off our treble.

Prediction: Match result draw

Leg 2 Manchester City v Crystal Palace click here for all markets available for this match

City are just 1 point behind Liverpool and 4 shy of United and they have a game in hand over both their rivals. A run of 6 wins and 2 draws in their last 8 league games plus progress in both domestic cup competitions and the Champions League once again sees them hunting multiple pieces of silverware and they still don't look to have hit top gear.

Palace look way too good to go down but well short of challenging the top sides but they do have form on this ground, drawing 2-2 here last season and springing a 3-2 surprise the season before.

Although City are in their best run of results the goals have not really been flowing. However they continue to carve out chances and another win here will see them make up ground on at least one of Liverpool or United and hopefully both.

A game of 3 goals or more in total is our pick for the second leg.

Prediction: Over 2.5 goals

Leg 3 Inter Milan v Juventus click here for all markets available for this match

We head to Serie A to round off the treble and the game of the weekend in Italy sees Inter host Juve. The Italian title race is far more open this season with AC Milan, Roma, Atalanta and Napoli all with some sort of chance.

Inter come into the weekend 3 points behind log leaders AC Milan and 4 points better off than Juve (who have a game in hand). After reeling off 8 straight league wins Inter have dropped points in their last 2 matches, losing at Sampdoria and drawing at Roma. With 43 goals scored Inter are the most potent side in the division but they have kept just 3 clean sheets in 17 league outings.

Juventus have won 4 of their last 5 and that includes a 3-1 win at AC Milan earlier this month. They have scored in all bar 1 of their league games this season but like Inter they have only kept 3 clean sheets in Serie A, an unusually low total for the Turin side.

It looks a tricky game to call but those stats concerning the lack of clean sheets for both clubs suggests we should see both teams on target.

Prediction: Both teams to score
