British Grand Prix Race 4 – England. Silverstone, Sunday 02 Aug @ 15:10

OVERVIEW

Hamilton made it look ridiculously easy in Hungary as he converted yet another pole position into a comfortable win at the Hungaroring. Max Verstappen drove out of his skin to try and stop the Silver Arrows (now in black) from a shutout yet despite his very best efforts it is clear to see that there is a considerable gap between the Mercs and the rest of the field.

Further down the field Vettel proved that the Ferrari’s were slowly but surely improving, at least in terms of race pace, but apart from the team way out in front it is currently only Racing Point who can feel happy with how the 2020 season has started.

After a week’s break we head to England for another back-to-back event.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

Lewis struggled for success at his home Grand Prix early on in his F1 career but has since claimed five of the last six events held at Silverstone. Mercedes Benz as F1 team is based less than a half an hour’s drive from the track and the other teams will know that it will take a monumental effort to upset the pecking order over the next couple of weeks.

Apart from the Benz boys the Pink Mercs will also be enjoying home ground advantage and will be keen to convert early season form into a good result at their home base here in the UK.

Verdict

Based on what we’ve seen thus far it would be tough looking past Mercedes Benz having a dominant outing and given the fact that we are at Silverstone with all its home comforts for the Mercs, an in particular their star in the No44, it would be foolish looking to oppose Hamilton this week.

BETOLIMP BEST BETS

Driver Special: Lewis Hamilton – Fastest Qualification time, Fastest Lap and Race Winner @ 4.00

He managed this feat last time out. Yes, we need things to work in our favour as drivers lower down the pack often have the opportunity to pit for new tires and attack a flying lap late in the race. But despite Hamilton’s dominance he is still in the middle of a tight Championship battle with team mate Bottas and he is sure to be keen on pushing for a Fastest Lap record on one of these next to home Grand Prix’s. With the most pole positions in the history of the sport this treble is a decent bet I reckon.

Race Winning Margin: Between 4 and 8 seconds @ 3.50

Lewis should have things well in hand during this race but hopefully he either gives up some of his advantage for a new tyre stop or the team opt to just have him cruise home ahead of his team mate. This gap looks about right to me.

Free Practice 1: Team Winner – Racing Point @ 4.00

Racing Point are on a high and looking to impress on their home turf. Perez was flying early on last weekend. Lance Stroll will also be full of confidence after Hungary. I see this as a two-way battle between Mercedes and the Pink Team so the Racing Point lads offer some value for mind.
