Norwich welcome Manchester United to Carrow Road on Sunday knowing they can cause another upset, this time against the red side of Manchester. The Canaries will go into the game knowing they have nothing to lose against a Red Devils team under so much pressure from the fans and the media. After becoming everyone’s 2nd team through their style of play and no fear attitude, Norwich can’t seem to find the same groove they had at the start of the season. Manchester United on the other don’t create enough chances for their front players and are frustrating to watch this season. Farke will be loved by Norwich fans no matter what happens this season, because what he was able to do with no funds is incredible. Ole is under so much pressure to produce result and entertaining football, it’s clearly having a negative impact on him and the squad.
NORWICH:
The Canaries will only need to look back at their victory over Manchester City to find inspiration for Sunday’s game. Farke can also look at Newcastle’s performance against Manchester United to see how to beat them without having the majority of the ball. Norwich’s sole focus this week would have been Manchester United and how they can find a way to beat them. Norwich has been disappointing in their few matches, losing 5-1 at home to Villa along with defeats to Burnley and Crystal Palace. The step up in class was always going to be tough for the Canaries. Norwich’s expected goals: xGf – 1.26 and xGa – 2.06, conceding 2 goals on average per game in the Premier League will only lead to relegation. Norwich will still be without 3 centre backs this weekend and they are only likely to return in the new year: Hanley, Zimmerman and Klose. Godfrey and Fahrmann will both return to the squad after injuries have kept them out.
MANCHESTER UNITED:
Manchester United finally won an away game this season in Belgrade on Thursday night, the first since Ole was appointed as manager. The Red Devils are struggling to create goal scoring opportunities this season and it looks like Ole runs out of ideas at times. This has put extra pressure on their defence to keep them in the game and that is one aspect that has improved since last season. There has been a lot of talk this week that Manchester United might switch to 3 at the back and 2 up top this weekend, keeping the defence solid and having another attacking option up front. United’s expected goals this season: xGf – 1.48 and xGa – 0.96, solid at the back, but the struggle for the forwards is real. Pogba, Shaw, Matic, Tuanzebe and Dalot has been ruled out for this weekend.

Sorry Norwich, it’s best bet time and I just feel Manchester United will grind out a result for the first time away from home this season in the Premier League. It’s all about the number once again and I feel the market is undervaluing the Red Devils. Norwich’s wave has crashed and Manchester United will see this game as a potential kick start with a run of positive results. Don’t be surprised if the Manchester United attack seems like Fergie is coaching them this weekend, Norwich can’t stop anyone. Manchester United for the win!
