NRL ROUND 14 – THURSDAY & FRIDAY MATCHES

My additional plays were poor in Round 13 but Anthony Don did finally deliver a good tryscorer payout and the two Best Bets of the weekend came home. So its onto Round 14 we go, looking for some more profits.

SYDNEY ROOSTERS vs MELBOURNE STORM – Thu 13 Aug @ 11:50, SCG Sydney

The Story thus far

The Storm are second on the log and in superb form at present. They come into this one off the back of seven straight wins. The Roosters are fourth and have suffered two defeats in the same seven match sequence.

Verdict

The Rooster have won their last three games but this came in the form of an eight point win over the Warriors, six points over the Titans and eight points over the Dragons - they are hardly in a lethal mood at present. With Cam Munster and Cam Smith missing for Melbourne I wills top short of picking a Storm victory, but the cap has to be the way to go here. Another interest could be favouring z low scoring game as the Premiers have struggled to fire of late and the Storm without their 2 main playmakers will also not be as sharp as they usually are.

NEW ZEALAND WARRIORS vs PENRITH PANTHERS – Fri 14 Aug @ 10:00, Central Coast

The Story thus far

It’s number one versus number eleven on the Central Coast on Friday. The Warriors have shown an impressive upturn in form of late. They pushed the Roosters hard a few weeks back and followed that up with back-to-back victories over the Tigers and Manly. However, the New Zealanders now have to face up to the high-flying Panthers who truly are operating at the height of their powers at the moment.

Verdict

One kind of expects Penrith to be caught out some time as they surely can’t keep performing at this level. Yet despite the improved form of the Warriors I can’t go against the likes of Crichton, Cleary, Kikau, Koroisau and Fisher-Harris chalking up yet another victory.

PARRAMATTA EELS vs DRAGONS – Fri 14 Aug @ 11:55, ANZ Sydney

The Story thus far

The Eels are just one point off the top spot yet have had to sneak a few close escapes along the way. The Saints have well and truly dropped out of the top eight having lost their last three matches.

Verdict

Parramatta have hardly put a team away so the handicap would be a brave call. They should however be able to get the job done as they welcome back Ryan Matterson whilst the Dragons have a few changes to their lineup.

BETOLIMP BEST BETS (in order of preference)

  1. Treble: Storm +11.5, Panthers -4.5 & Eels to win @ 2.00

Additional Plays

Roosters vs Storm: Half Time / Full Time – Storm/Roosters @ 6.90

Warriors vs Panthers: HT/FT Margin – Panthers (1-8) / Panthers (13+) @ 5.50

Eels vs Dragons: Half Time / Full Time – Dragons/Eels @ 7.32

Tryscorers

Roosters vs Storm

Expecting a fast Storm start, Addo-Carr on the wing should be in a good position to get the opening try of the game.

Warriors vs Panthers

Kikau delivered for us last week and I am sticking with the same play again for this clash as well.

Eels vs Dragons

The Dragons backrower is offered at a tasty price to get a meat pie whilst Ferguson has quite unbelievably not had a single try in 2020 to date yet I expect the big bald winger to get the winner this time around.
