Round 6 treated as well over the past weekend and it’s time to strike while the iron’s hot!

PENRITH PANTHERS vs SOUTH SYDNEY RABBITOHS – Thu 25 June @ 11:50, Jubilee Stadium

The Story thus far

Jubilee Stadium is added to the rotation this week and first up it hosts the Panthers and Bunnies. Penrith proved in Round 6 that they were the real deal as they toppled the munch fancied Storm to keep themselves at the sharp end of the ladder. The Rabbitohs appear to be getting closer and closer to their top form but despatching with the Titans and Warriors can hardly be compared to the might of the Panthers.

Key for the Clash

James Roberts is set to make his Bunnies return off the bench whilst Codie Walker and Latrell Mitchell are finding their very best form. For Penrith watch out for the dynamic duo of Crichton and Kikau. The return of Nathan Cleary has also added an extra spark.

Verdict

This promises to be a cracker of a game but on the betting front little value stands out.

MELBOURNE STORM vs NEW ZEALAND WARRIORS – Fri 26 June @ 10:00, Jubilee Stadium

The Story thus far

The Storm started the season as one of the title favourites yet have failed to fire and find themselves sixth on the ladder at present with two losses. The Warriors have had a troubled 2020. Apart from travel restraints forcing them to relocate to Aus, the Kiwi side have also suffered a raw deal with injuries. To make matters worse the inconsistent results has, perhaps somewhat harshly, also cost them their coach Stephen Kearny.

Key for the Clash

The Warriors have taken blow after blow yet still have some quality in the form of Roger Tuivasa-Scheck and Kodi Nikorima. Cameron Munster remains the main man whilst the Storm will also be boosted by the return of Addo-Carr and Hughes.

Verdict

One can’t imagine the Warriors putting up too much of a fight on Friday. Yes, the Storm have struggled but they are presented with the best possible opportunity to find their best attacking flair against the New Zealanders.

SYDNEY ROOSTERS vs ST GEORGE ILLAWARRA DRAGONS – Fri 26 June @ 11:55, Bankwest Stadium

The Story thus far

Victories over the Sharks and the Titans have seen the Dragons move off the bottom of the table over the past fortnight. The Premiers are starting to live up to their billing as they followed up a Broncos demolition job and a Bulldogs bashing with handing the high-flying Eels their first defeat.

Key for the Clash

The Dragons might have fought back to some sort of decent form but are set to run into a wall at Bankwest on Friday evening – Flanagan, Keary, Tedesco and the Morris brothers are part of a backline that aren’t taking any prisoners at present.

Verdict

The only question here is how “tidy” the Dragons can keep things. These Roosters are in a mood and with the team named they clearly have no intention of taking their foot of the accelerator at this stage. Things could get ugly for their opponents if they aren’t willing to dig extremely deep and fight for every inch. I don’t think the Dragons have the capacity to mix it with the Chooks.

BETOLIMP BEST BETS (in order of preference)

  1. Double: Storm -6.5 onto Roosters -9.5 @ 1.89

  1. Rabbitohs to win by 1-7 @ 4.62

Additional Plays

Half Time / Full Time – Panthers / Rabbitohs @ 7.75

Penrith have relied on fast starts since the return of NRL and at the price I give the Bunnies a chance of fighting back in the 2nd half.

Roosters alternative handicap -21.5 @ 2.54

If the Roosters do find their rhythm things could get ugly for the Dragons.
