NRL ROUND 13 – THURSDAY & FRIDAY MATCHES
The weekend treated us well last week and the dramatic Sharks final flurry was superb for the wallet. Let’s try and find some value in week 13 of the NRL.
DRAGONS vs SYDNEY ROOSTERS – Thu 06 Aug @ 11:50, Wollongong
The Story thus far
The Saints came up short in a try fest against the Bunnies last week. Now 11th on the log the Dragons will need to start getting a run on but it will be tough against the Premiers. The Roosters really are struggling for form at present. They have struggled past the Warriors as well s the Titans over the past fortnight and were tripped up by the Raiders before that. We are starting to get to the business end of the season and this is usually where Easts start to pick up the tempo, can they do so again in 2020?
Verdict
This Roosters side just isn’t in vintage form and I don’t see them miraculously just snapping out of it and clicking all of a sudden. The defending champs will also miss the influential Flanagan for this clash.The Roosters might have to dig deep to win this one, let alone cover a two-score cap.
MANLY SEA EAGLES vs NEW ZEALAND WARRIORS – Fri 07 Aug @ 10:00, Lottoland Sydney
The Story thus far
After a rough month or so Manly will be keen to chalk up a win and sneak back into a knockout spot. The Sea Eagles will be hurting after being embarrassed by the Panthers last week. The Warriors will have a bit of confidence after making the Roosters sweat before taking an upset win over the Tigers in Round 12.
Verdict
The Warriors will fancy their chances at picking up back to back victories. I’m expecting the Sea Eagles to just about get the job done in a bit of a bun fight where the home side will miss Dylan Walker again this week whilst having to deal with the likes of Nikorima and Taunoa-Brown.
SOUTH SYDNEY RABBITOHS vs BRISBANE BRONCOS – Fri 07 Aug @ 11:55, ANZ Sydney
The Story thus far
The Broncos will be absolutely filthy at how they capitulated in the final ten minutes against Cronulla last week. In a nightmare season that kind of late collapse could prove the final straw. The Bunnies have been rather inconsistent but will fancy their chances of getting some winning momentum going against an out of sorts Brisbane.
Verdict
Some returning players (like Staggs in Round 12) are starting to make an impact for the Broncos, and this week they also finally have David Fafita back, but they remain a bunch of individuals who must be terribly frustrated at present. The more cohesive unit that is the Rabbitohs should come out on top here.

I expect the Dragons to still get a few tries of their own in this one and the big monster down the tramlines should have a good chance of getting over. For the Roosters a Morris is always handy as they have that never-say-die attitude that keeps them going for the entire eighty.
