BettingDiaryThe Saudi Arabian Grand Prix takes place this weekend at the Jeddah Corniche Circuit and we take a look at the race from a betting angle.

Charles Leclerc got his season off to the perfect start when he won the Bahrain Grand Prix last week. He qualified in pole, won the race and got the fastest lap. Leclerc was followed home by his teammate, Carlos Sainz with Lewis Hamilton finishing on the podium despite being off the pace for most of the race. Hamilton’s teammate, George Russell was 4th in his first run for the Mercedes team.

The big disappointments were the Red Bull’s of Perez and Verstappen that didn’t finish the race. Verstappen had certainly looked like getting at least 2nd place right up until the end and his World Championship defence has got off to a poor start.

He remains joint favourite for the Drivers Championship though at 19/10 alongside Leclerc, Lewis Hamilton 28/10, Sainz 7/1 and you can get 20/1 Russell and 66/1 and better the balance.

The Saudi Arabian Grand Prix takes place for just the second time and last year it was the 21st Round of the Championship whereas this year it comes up second.

Lewis Hamilton qualified in pole and won the race ahead of Max Verstappen with Bottas completing the podium. Hamilton’s win pulled him level on points with Verstappen after the race.

Charles Leclerc 16/10

Max Verstappen 16/10

Carlos Sainz 7/1

Lewis Hamilton 12/1

Sergio Perez 16/1

George Russell 33/1

124/1 and better the balance

Suggested Bet: Max Verstappen win at 16/10

I am expecting a bounce back from Red Bull this weekend although mechanical failures last week were certainly cause for concern. Assuming they can rectify those I fancy them to have the measure of Ferrari and don’t think that Mercedes are quite up to the pace yet.

Suggested Bet: Podium Finish, George Russell at 5/1

I like what I saw of Russell in his debut for Mercedes and I think he is well priced to improve a position to a podium in his second run for the team.
