BettingDiaryItaly and Spain meet in the first of the Euro 2020 semi-finals on Tuesday with the match taking place at Wembley. We look at the game from a betting angle.

Let’s start with a look at the long-term markets and specifically the outright winner betting where England are currently trading at 16/10 with Italy 9/4, Spain 28/10 and Denmark are the 10/1 outsiders.

You can get 27/20 we have an England v Italy final and Raheem Sterling is currently a 7/2 favourite to be “Best Player of the Tournament”

ITALY V SPAIN

Italy beat Belgium 2-1 in an excellent quarter-final where they led 2-0 before conceding just before halftime. They hung on to take the win which they were full value for on the night. In the last 16 they were pushed hard by Austria winning 2-1 in extra time having been held to a goalless draw after 90 minutes.

Italy won all 3 of their group matches scoring 7 goals without conceding.

Spain have been pushed hard in both their quarter-final and last 16 match. In the last 8 they emerged from a shaky penalty shootout to beat Switzerland and they allowed Croatia to rally from 3-1 down to force extra time in the round of 16 before beating them 5-3 to void penalties.

Spain drew 2 of their group matches and they hammered Slovakia 5-0 in their final game.

Italy 29/20

Draw 22/10

Spain 21/10

Suggested Bet: Italy win at 29/20

The Austria game aside, Italy have been close to perfect in this tournament and if they can reproduce what they did against Belgium I think they will win this. The Slovakia match aside, Spain have yet to really fire and I think they will battle to break down the tight Italian defence.

Other markets which I fancy are Italy to keep a clean sheet at 17/10 and a correct score of Italy 2-0 at just under 10/1.
