We had no joy last week when Writteninthesand gave us no sort of run. Our first “Money Maker” did oblige a week earlier when Atticus Finch ran out a convincing winner having being backed in to 14/10 from an opening price of 33/10 (it was 22/10 when labelled in this column). Let's see if we can get back on track this week.

Turffontein Race 5 is due off at 14:10, a MR68 Handicap over 2000m and it's the first leg of Jackpot 1. Barring scratchings 10 runners will go to post, 6 of which are fillies or mares.
One of the ladies is Number 6 Rosy Lemon, trained by Fanie Bronkhorst and ridden by Calvin Habib. Now a 4 year old Rosy Lemon has had 15 runs, winning 1 and earning a cheque more often than not.
Rosy Lemon has run once in the new season, raiding KZN on 6th August when she stayed on for a respectable third placing behind Foreshore at Scottsville over 1600m, beaten 3.5 lengths. The step up in trip should hold no fears and is probably a plus in my view.
There is nothing the way of collateral form featuring our selection who is currently trading at 6/1 and evens to run in the first 3, however, I give her a decent chance of notching a second career win whilst the conservative option is to play each way.
